Florida Summer Championships

The PBRT 17U Florida Summer Championships continued Friday, July 1st at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota with action from the 17U divisions. The event is four days long with champions decided on Sunday. Each day we will highlight standouts with a daily scout blog. Take a look at Day 2's notes.

Day 2 Scout Blog

Aiden Alvarez LHP / 1B / Osceola , FL / 2023

6-foot, 175 pounds. Alvarez looks to have made a jump. Added strength. Clean, loose arm action. Fastball up to 86 and shows feel for the breaking ball. Uncommitted ‘23 arm to follow.

Blake Brookins OF / Miami Palmetto, FL / 2023

Florida recruit. Uber projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds. Creates leverage with an uphill path as he launched a double to the RC gap. Has displayed a mature approach and overall above average actions this week. High follow 2023.


Elliot Cadieux Lanoue LHP / OF / Fadette, QC / 2024

Iowa recruit. Southpaw up to 93 mph. Creates swings and misses when command is on. Spotty FB/CB control. Big upside.

Braden Garcia C / 1B / Stanton College Prep, FL / 2023

Lean, lengthy frame. Simple, short line drive approach. Hands stays inside the baseball. Present bat speed.


David Hickey C / 3B / Father Lopez, FL / 2023

6-foot, 210 pounds. Physical RHH catcher, seems to always be on the barrel. Compact stroke with bat speed as he went deep pull side for a home run. Uncommitted.


Daniel Irizarry OF / RHP / Lake Mary, FL / 2023

Lean, athletic frame. Irizarry launched one to deep left for a solo homer. Calm, mature actions in the box with juice off the bat. Uncommitted ‘23 follow.


Drew Jordan OF / LHP / Dean Bozeman, FL / 2023

Lean frame with athleticism. Anchored with quick hands, compact actions. Line drive approach and uses the whole field. Hands stay inside the baseball.


Hunter Key LHP / OF / East River, FL / 2023

Athletic frame with strength in the lower half. Efficient mover, on time/in rhythm. Loose hands, gap to gap approach.


Deiten Lachance C / 3B / Le triolet, QC / 2023

6-foot-4, 235 pounds. Lachance looks behind the dish, above average receiver w/ present catch & throw. Offensively, has a heavy barrel w/ bat speed. Strong uncommitted follow.


Aidan Mansfield OF / LHP / PK Yonge , FL / 2023

Athletic, lean frame. Short swing with quick hands. On time with solid barrel control. Level path with natural loft. Turned on a FB for deep RBI 2B to center.


Christian Morales SS / University, FL / 2023

Lean and athletic frame. Quick hands through the zone. Level path with some juice off the bat.


Robert Nedry SS / 2B / Westminster Academy, FL / 2023

NC State recruit. Nedry has added strength and it shows. Above average bat speed through the zone. In rhythm and on time consistently for multiple barrels.


Jeremy Pilon LHP / 1B / Chene bleu, QC / 2024

6-foot, 185 pounds. Very intriguing uncommitted LHP up to 91 with a hammer. CB thrown for strikes at 2800+, FB flashed arm side run. 3 IP, 0 H, 4 K’s.

Grayson Smith RHP / C / McCallie School, TN / 2023

Florida recruit. 6-foot-2, 215 pounds. Athletic w/ projection. Landed breaking ball for strikes and swing/miss commanded glove side. 5 IP, 1 H, 4 K’s, 0 ER.

P. Alex Sosa C / Viera, FL / 2023

NC State recruit showed well behind the plate. Sturdy, projectable frame. Quick feet with clean actions moving towards the targe. Fluid arm action w/ zip, on target. Left handed bat, works deep counts, finds barrel when he gets his pitch.


Jake Weatherspoon C / 3B / Melbourne, FL / 2023

6-foot-1, 190 pounds. Physical frame. Strong/quick hands working directly to the ball with some juice in the tank. Launched a 3B into the deep pull side gap.


Andrew Williamson OF/ 1B / Northside Christian, FL / 2023

UCF recruit. ‘21 Future Gamer continues to show high level tools. Mature actions in the box. Creates leverage in the path. Gap to gap power potential.
