The 2022 FL Preseason All-State took place Saturday, January 22th and Sunday, January 23rd at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, FL. The two day event featured players from the 2022-2026 classes participating in a batting practice on day one followed by a pro-style workout and gameplay on day two in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

Team Black Analysis

Angel Abreu 2B / C / Mandarin, FL / 2023

5-foot-7, 195-pound solid frame. Solid during batting practice, Abreu had a max exit velocity of 86 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient, uses a short swing plane and high finish. Barreled up some balls with loud contact. Line drive approach. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 74 mph; had smooth footwork, soft hands, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Behind the plate, his best recorded throw to second was clocked at 73 mph; had a clean transfer, soft hands, and athletic footwork. had a pop time of 2.10-2.19. Some flexibility and athletic setup. Had a short arm action and a ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.78 at the event.

Dom Bello C / 3B / Bishop Moore Catholic , FL / 2023

6-foot-1, 196-pound solid athletic build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 92 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a long stride. Bat speed was efficient, used a short swing plane and good extension on his finish. He created some loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side line drive approach. Behind the plate, he made throws to second at velocities up to 71 mph; shows smooth feet, a clean transfer, and soft consistent hands. consistently had pop times of 2.05-2.14. Some flexibility and athletic setup. From a ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a short arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.47 at the event.

Keeton Burroughs SS / 2B / Calvary Christian, FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 155-pound athletic lean frame. Solid at the plate, Burroughs had a max exit velocity of 84 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a compact load, then used a small leg kick. Had a short simple swing plane, efficient bat speed and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 84 mph; has smooth feet, a clean natural exchange, and soft consistent hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a quick arm action with a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.87.

Anthony Cole OF / 3B / Montverde Academy, FL / 2023

Florida Gulf Coast Commit, 6-foot-5, 215-pound strong athletic frame. Solid in the box, Cole's best exit velocity was 94 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was electric, had a short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 92 mph;has soft hands, rhythmic feet, and a quick clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball to the side. Had a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action with consistent accuracy to the bag. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.94.

Keaton Ference OF / 3B / Gaither, FL / 2022

6-foot, 200-pound athletic frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 95 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is present, exhibits a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Barreled up multiple balls during his round. Line drive approach. Solid from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 87 mph; had soft hands, consistent footwork, and a natural exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Had a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.83.

Gian Flores C / 3B / Oviedo, FL / 2022

5-foot-8, 178-pound solid build. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 86 mph. Starts in a balanced quiet stance with a quick load, then uses a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, uses a simple uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels during his round. Gap to gap approach. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 70 mph during throw downs; had quick footwork, sure hands, and a clean transfer. had a pop time of 2.03-2.15. Calm setup with some flexibility. Showed a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot.

Peter Frometa OF / RHP / Westminster, FL / 2023

6-foot-1, 175-pound athletic frame. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 90 mph. Begins in an athletic active stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Had a simple upward swing plane, quick bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the outfield, he used momentum and arm strength to record throws up to 89 mph;has consistent feet, sure hands, and a natural exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.86. On the mound, showed quick arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Has an athletic balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 82-83 mph. Has some running action. (Max spin 1773; Avg 1752). Shows some sweeping action on his 11/5 curveball (68-69). (Max spin 1989; Avg 1956). He shows slight fading action on his changeup (72-74).

Ty Grover 3B / 1B / Springstead , FL / 2023

6-foot, 190-pound strong athletic frame. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 96 mph. Began in an athletic quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed was flashed quick, displayed an uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; showed consistent feet, sure hands, and a clean exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.45.

Logan Hughes 1B / OF / Winter Springs, FL / 2023

Stetson Commit, 5-foot-11, 193-pound solid build. Solid during batting practice, the left-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 96 mph, 3rd Highest at the event. Started in an athletic quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Had present bat speed, loose uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Pull side approach. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 75 mph; has sure hands, a natural exchange, and consistent feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.33.

Andrew Ildefonso RHP / 1B / Archbishop McCarthy, FL / 2023

Rice Commit, 6-foot-2, 205-pound. Solid on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action while showing consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and downhill shoulders. Lands square with balanced finish. Sat with his fastball at 85-88 mph and topped out at 89 mph; Has running action. (Max spin 2477; Avg 2282). Throws a 10/4 slider (76-79) with tight late action. (Max spin 2537; Avg 2356). 

Mason Laurito LHP / LHP / Forest, FL / 2023

Florida State Commit, 6-foot-1, 158-pound athletic frame. Solid on the mound, showed some arm speed, he had a quick arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and downhill shoulders. Lands square with a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 85-88 mph. Shows running action. (Max spin 2309; Avg 1995). His changeup (80-82) has some fading action. Threw a 2/8 slider (74-77) with tight late action. (Max spin 2523; Avg 2414). 

Ryan Liss OF / 1B / St. Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2023

6-foot-3, 190-pound athletic build. Solid in the box, Liss best exit velocity was 89 mph. Began in a balanced quiet stance with a quick load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, used a simple flat swing plane and high finish. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 77 mph; had consistent footwork, a natural exchange, and sure hands. Solid from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 83 mph; shows consistent feet, sure hands, and a natural exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.05 at the event.

Ethan McAnally 3B / RHP / J.M. Tate, FL / 2023

6-foot-3, 175-pound athletic frame. Solid during batting practice, Mcanally displayed an exit velocity of 96 mph, Top 2 velo of the day. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is quick, shows a simple uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 80 mph; has consistent feet, a natural exchange, and sure hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a quick arm action with a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.34 at the event. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action while showing consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 79-81 mph. Showed slight running action. (Max spin 2061; Avg 1932). Landon Moran 1B / LHP / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022

Florida Commit, 6-foot-2, 185-pound. Solid at the plate, the left-handed hitter's 96 mph exit velocity ranks him 1st at the event. Began in an athletic tall stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Has quick bat speed, simple uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Gap to gap approach. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.26.

Carter Oglageo C / RHP / Trinity Christian Academy (Deltona), FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 160-pound solid build. Solid in the box, Oglageo had an exit velocity of 92 mph. Began in an athletic quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is quick, shows a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. While catching, he recorded a position velocity of 73 mph during throw downs; had consistent footwork, a natural transfer, and sure hands. had consistent pop times of 2.04-2.17. Calm setup with some flexibility. Showed a quick arm action with a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.23. On the mound, showing some arm speed he had a loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-84 mph. Leyton Parmer RHP / OF / Cambridge Christian , FL / 2023

6-foot-1, 150-pound. Solid on the mound, showed consistent arm speed, he had a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Displays downhill shoulders and a consistent balance point. Lands soft with a clean finish. Threw his fastball 76-79 mph. Shows slight running action. (Max spin 1965; Avg 1864). Showed a 11/5 curveball (66-67) with slight sweeping action. (Max spin 2024; Avg 1929).

Tanner Reid OF / RHP / Bishop Moore Catholic, FL / 2023

5-foot-11, 180-pound athletic build. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 93 mph. Starts in a quiet athletic stance with a small load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, has a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 87 mph; has soft hands, a natural exchange, and consistent feet. Solid throwing from the outfield, he displayed power in his arm with throws up to 89 mph;showed a natural exchange, sure hands, and consistent feet. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.1 at the event. On the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action while showing some arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows easy effort. Sat with his fastball at 80-83 mph. Jake Richardson OF / Melbourne, FL / 2023

5-foot-10, 175-pound athletic build. Solid at the plate, Richardson recorded an exit velocity of 95 mph. Begins in an athletic quiet stance with a small load, then uses a controlled quick stride. Bat speed is quick, has a simple upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 86 mph; had consistent footwork, soft hands, and a clean exchange. Cameron Ruston OF / Viera High School, FL / 2023

5-foot-11, 155-pound solid build. Solid at the plate, Ruston had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. Began in a balanced quiet stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick.
