Tampa, FL - Tuesday night featured a matchup between Berkeley Prep taking on Tampa Prep. Berkeley was out to a 4-1 start on the season after a 10-0 record last year and was scheduled to face one of the top arms in state in RHP Jose Pena (FIU). Pena came out with an electric fastball and had all three pitches working. He sat 91-93 T94 with the fastball up to 2566 rpms. He mixed a CB at 75-77 mph (2640 rpm) and CH 76-77. A few walks and the lack of defensive help behind him really hurt Pena’s outing.

On the other side, 2021 LHP Will Parkinson (Columbia) got the start for Berkeley. The 6-foot-3 southpaw sat 84-86 mph (2450 rpm) with the fastball with a sweeping CB to pair. Parkinson would go the first 3 innings of the game allowing no runs with 5 strikeouts. 2021 LHP Matt Mulfinger closed out the last 2 innings for Berkeley allowing no runs with 3 strikeouts.
