Over 200 players took part in the Elite Squad tryout at Broward college from August 12th- August 13th. These players took part in a pro-style workout and a simulated games. Below we take a look at the 2019 graduates who took advantage of the PBR Upgrade during the tryout.

Christian Muniz 3B / RHP / Miami Christian , FL / 2019

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound 3B/RHP has a long, lean, projectable frame. Offensively, the right handed hitter has a simple load and short stride. Has some steepness in the swing, but the long arms creates some leverage and loft. Defensively, he has the frame of a corner guy. The hands work and shows sound defensive actions. On the mound, he has a loose, easy 3/4 arm action. There is some crossfire action and the fastball has some arm side life with his fastball ranging from 80-81 mph. He also showed a sweeping slider at 63-67 mph and a changeup at 75-76 mph.

Kyriq Connolly 3B / 2B / Faith Baptist Christian Academy , FL / 2019

The switch hitting infielder is nearly a mirror image of his swing from both sides. Standing upright, he has a short stride and is slightly rotational. The right handed path is more level through the zone while left handed is more uphill and creates some natural loft and pull power. Defensively, he has quality footwork and fields somewhat upright. There is present athleticism and strength and will continue to improve with reps.

Michael McBrayer SS / OF / Ransom Everglades, FL / 2019

The right handed hitting SS/OF has his hands preset loaded fairly far back. He has a small leg kick stays balanced in the lower half and clears his lower half well. He is aggressive through the zone with a level, line drive path and present bat speed. From the outfield, he comes through the ball extremely well, topping out at 78 mph. Defensively, has a quality first step, his hands work and is a sound defender.

Garrett Parkins RHP / 1B / Suncoast, FL / 2019

The right-hander has a simple, repeatable delivery. Lands in line with a long high 3/4 arm action. There is some effort in the delivery with the fastball ranging from 80-84 mph. Shows a feel for a fading changeup at 68-69 mph. Shows a quality curveball with good shape at 71-73 mph.

Rod Alea 2B / 3B / Miami Palmetto, FL / 2019

The 5-foot-10, 175 pound left handed hitting middle infielder starts slightly open and uses a medium leg kick and gets stacked into his lower half. He generates bat speed from a strong lower half, but there is some steepness in the path. The bat speed will translate to gap-to-gap power with a more level path through the zone. Defensively, he showed sound defensive action. He hands work well, but fields the ball under his frame at times. Topped out at 65 mph across the infield.

Max Goldfine C / OF / St. Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2019

5-foot-10, 160 pounds the right handed hitter starts with his hands set over his head and has a large leg kick and a lot of moving parts in the load. When he is on time, he shows present gap-to-gap power. He gets quality use from the lower half with present bat speed and swings with intent. Defensively, he shows good hands and has a solid catcher frame. The footwork is solid and has a clean, quick transfer with his best pop time coming in at 2.07.

Alex Morejon 1B / OF / Royal Palm Beach, FL / 2019

The left handed hitter has a medium leg kick load and hits off of a strong front side. There is some steepness in the path, but there is also present bat speed and a feel for the barrel. Actions work well at first, with solid hands and footwork. Ran a 7.69 60 yard dash.

Elliott Figueroa RHP / OF / Somerset Academy, FL / 2019

6-foot-2, 170 pounds, he has long arms and a lean projectable frame. He throws from a true 3/4 slot with a fastball ranging from 77-78 mph. Also showed a slider at 70 and changeup at 74 in warms ups.

Justin Diaz 3B / RHP / JP Taravella, FL / 2019

5-foot-10, 180 pound he has a strong lower half. The right handed hitter has a short stride and tended to drift and not get the best use of his strong lower half. He has a level path through the zone and the present strength can turn into power with better use of the lower half. On the mound, he lines in line and works with a fastball ranging from 77-78 mph.
