The Florida High School Athletic Association has announced that opening day of the 2019 season will commence on Feb. 25. Programs were allowed to begin practicing in an official capacity on Jan. 28, meaning it's time for the PBR Florida staff to break down the high school baseball scene in the state in the countdown to the first pitch thrown in 2019.

Our staff sent out a preseason questionnaire to the head coaches across the state. Leading up to opening day, we'll be publishing their responses. These team preview posts are here to provide for you a more detailed look at the program, with some first-hand insight from the head coach, too.

SEASON SNAPSHOT

After a down year in 2018, Bishop Verot returns with the right mix of youth and experienced returnees. Florida signee Matt Powell will be a force to be reckoned with in a strong offensive lineup for the Vikings. Providing support to Powell will be returning starters Andrew Pflieger and Daniel Blitz. Southpaw Fletcher Reynolds takes on the role of staff ace, but the Eckerd signee will need help from new faces if they are to have long term success. Two younger players to watch that should have a significant impact are Florida commit Mike McAloose and Scott Edwards.
