The Florida National Qualifier kicked off at IMG Academy with action all day from the Upperclass and Underclass Divisions. The tournament will last four days with a winner in each division determined on Monday. Today, we will take a look at our Scout Notes from Day 1 at the Florida National Qualifier. See who stood out to our PBR Florida Scouts.

Alex Barnes C / 2B / Sarasota, FL / 2024Barnes is a stocky catcher with a solid build. Shows a controlled swing with present athleticism. Strong to and through contact with a level extension. Has upside at the plate. Uncommitted.

Ethan Burkhardt 3B / RHP / Bishop McLaughlin, FL / 2024Rankings StateRank: 58 / POS: 9
Burkhardt shows a consistent approach at the dish, he stays balanced and has a level gap to gap approach. Keeps his hands back nicely and delivers 1 hit and 3 RBI’s on the day.

Javier Cardoso II RHP / 3B / City of Hialeah Educational Academy, FL / 2021Cardoso throws a solid 3 innings allowing no runs on no hits while striking out 6. Pounded the zone with a heavy fastball and flashed a decent curveball at times. Repeatable mechanics with a live arm.

Danny Cerelli 3B / RHP / Plant, FL / 2025Cerelli laces 3 hits in the first game today. All barreled liners and multiple extra base hits. Uses an active load and bars the hands a bit but explodes through the zone and has a lot of loud contact to show for it. Uncommitted

Chase Chappell RHP / Bloomingdale, FL / 2022Chappell has a Long, lean frame and shows a good idea of how to pitch. He pounds the zone with a fastball with late arm side run and a tight swing and miss slider. Shows repeatable mechanics with a loose arm. FB: 86-88 mph. Uncommitted

Corinti is a young 2024 that really knows how to pitch. Attacks both sides of the plate with the fastball and shows feel for the breaking ball. Fastball 79-81. Curveball 65-67.

Zachary Crawford SS / 2B / JW Mitchell, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 117 / POS: 22
5-foot-11, 165 pounds. Solid, athletic frame. Quick, compact swing that’s strong through the zone. Good base as he can go down and barrel up pitches. Mature approach, letting the barrel do the work.

Cole Dement OF / RHP / Lakewood Ranch, FL / 2023Uncommitted 2023. 6-foot-5, 180 pound frame. Dement looks the part on the mound with an advanced frame. Fastball up to 81 as he went 4.2 innings giving up 2 runs with 5 strikeouts.

Arjun Nimmala SS / RHP / Strawberry Crest, FL / 2023The Florida State commit has added strength and is beginning to fill out his projectable 6-foot-1 frame. Gets in the box and goes after 1st pitch with a deep fly ball to CF for a standup 3B. Real impact player on both sides of the ball.

Chase Nystrom RHP / OF / JW Mitchell, FL / 2024Nystrom came in to close things out for the Roos 2024’s. Lean, athletic frame. Quick arm running the fastball 84-86 mph. Really like the upside as he adds weight to his frame.
