This past weekend at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, FL, Florida Scout Ball had their Fall Underclass Championship which featured some of the best 2019/2020 teams in the state. Some of these teams included the Florida Burn Platinum 2019 and 2020s, Elite Squad 2020s, and the Orlando Scorpions 2019 Prime.

Below are reports with video on some of the players from the event. All other scouting reports from this past weekend in Auburndale including those below will be found in the Florida Scout Blog tomorrow.

Danny Rodriguez, RHP/OF, Venice HS, FL (2019)
Currently ranked No. 21 in the Florida 2019 Class, No. 64 Overall. The 6-foot, 130 pounder has a lean, wiry, athletic build with room to grow. Has a simple step for his load with above average bat speed and quick hands through the zone. Uses all of the field and gets out of the box quickly. Had three hits on the day including a bunt that he dropped down for a single. Once he gets going, he seems to kick it into the next gear on the base paths. Shows good baseball instincts and athleticism all over the field. Has been up to 83 mph on the mound with his fastball.

Cooper Weiss, 3B/SS, Canterbury HS, FL (2019)
Currently ranked No. 30 in the Florida 2019 Class, No. 139 Overall. The 5-foot-11, 170 pounder has a compact, physical build with strength in the lower half. Has a slightly open stance at the plate and uses his lower half with a level swing plane that produces line drives all over the field and into the gaps. Has good plate discipline and works the count, fouls off tough pitches when he’s behind in the count. Makes the plays in the field, shows athleticism moving to his left and right. All around solid player.

Hayden Muecke, RHP, Villages HS, FL (2019)
5-foot-11, 155 pounds with a lean, athletic build. Has a quick, up-tempo athletic wind up throwing out of the high ¾ arm slot. Works quickly and competes with a bulldog mentality by going after hitters. Fastball sat 82-84 mph with some run while also displaying an above average curveball that had tight spin and good shape at 72-74 mph. Threw it the majority of the time for strikes and induced many swings and misses. Good follow as he matures.

Mikel Cuvet, OF/LHP, St. Thomas HS, FL (2020)
5-foot-10, 140 pounds with a lean, athletic, projectable build. Has some quick twitch actions. Clean arm action out of high ¾ arm slot. Works quickly. Fastball sat 77-79 mph with some run, curveball was 64-66 mph with some shape and depth. Can at times let his arm tail, not finish with his legs on his delivery and follow through. Showed some range and the ability to track down the ball while playing centerfield, displayed a level swing plane from the left side at the plate. Projectable, young arm with mechanical flaws that will be fixed as he continues to mature and log more innings.

Angelo Garcia, RHP, Hagerty HS, FL (2019)
6-foot, 160 pounds with a solid build and good lower half. Threw from a mostly over the top arm slot. Hides the ball. Fastball sat 80-82 mph and mixed in an above average curveball that had shape and depth at 66-68 mph. Forced a good amount of swings and misses and threw a high percentage of his pitches for strikes. Had eight strikeouts in five innings. Competes and goes after hitters.

Roberto Lopez, OF/3B, West Broward HS, FL (2020)
5-foot-11, 180 pounds with a lean, projectable build with athletic actions. Stays balanced in the box with a confident approach. Stood out throughout the game as he displayed quick hands with a level swing that produced a couple of line drive hits up down the left field line and up the middle. Possesses some good instincts and takes big leads on the base paths. Also showed some good range while playing right field as he ran down a couple of fly balls including one down the line.
