Initial Florida Class of 2022 Rankings Released
October 22, 2018
With the fall season nearing the end, it’s time to release the initial list for the Florida Class of 2022 Rankings. This class features plenty of standout freshmen who have not already made an impact throughout the summer and fall seasons, but will be ones to watch for the upcoming spring high school season as well. This initial list goes up to 70 players and will steadily increase as we continue to scout and cover various events and games throughout the year.
OF Elijah Green takes the top spot in this first release as the outfielder is highly projectable and athletic prospect with explosive bat speed and is a plus runner, being clocked in the 6.6-6.7 second range for the 60 yard dash.
Below are scouting reports on the Top 5 with video for a couple followed by a look at the Top 10:
Elijah Green OF / RHP / TNXL ACADEMY, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
08/15/18- Head-and-shoulders beyond others in 2022 class physically. Athletic machine. Strong and twitchy. Still has a lot projection. Explosive hands and fast bat. Really does have some polish to go along with the raw physicality. Should be able to handle velocity as a 2022 allowing him to begin development immediately. Fast bat and has a good head start on developing his raw abilities. Exciting young talent. |
Brandon Barriera LHP / 1B / Westminster Academy, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
10/20/18- Very projectable and athletic frame standing at 6-foot, 155 pounds. Loose and easy working arm from the left side throwing out of the high ¾ slot. Plenty more to come as he fills out his frame and matures. Fastball sits in the 83-85 mph range, touching 86 and working down in the zone along with a slurvy slider in the 72-74 mph range. Barriera will continue to be one to the top arms to follow in his class not only at a state level, but nationally as well. |
Sal Stewart 3B / 1B / Westminster Christian, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
10/19/18- Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds on a strong, athletic frame with strength throughout. Offensively, he shows above average bat speed through the zone and utilizes his lower half throughout his swing, looking to drive the ball into the gaps. Present feel for the barrel. Showed some pull side pop as well. Defensively, he works through the ball and fields it under control with a strong arm across the diamond. Stewart’s bat will continue to be one of the top follows in his class. |
Landon Moran LHP / 1B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
08/15/18- Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds with a loose, athletic, projectable frame with long limbs. Above average feel for the game for his age, shows natural actions. Impressed all over the field throughout the weekend. During his bullpen on Friday night, he showed a loose, quick arm and a repeatable delivery which featured a fastball that mostly sat 80-82 mph, touching 83 with life. Also mixed in a 61-62 mph curveball with depth and a 71-72 mph changeup with some fade. From the outfield, he takes efficient routes to the ball and shows an above average arm with accuracy and carry on his throws, topping out at 83 mph. Shows solid, defensive actions around the bag at first. Offensively, he shows a smooth swing with above average bat speed from the left side which consistently finds the barrel. Displays the ability to go gap-to-gap and sit back on the breaking ball to take it the other way. Moran shows multiple above average tools for his age, but his highest ceiling is on the mound. Look for him to make a number of jumps as he continues to add to his frame and mature. Very high follow. |
Michael McAloose SS / 2B / Bishop Verot, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
10/20/18- Florida recruit. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 145 pounds with an athletic, projectable frame. Stands out offensively where he shows an advanced approach at the plate with quick hands and above average bat speed. Shows a feel for the barrel and looks to go gap-to-gap with a line drive approach. Patient hitter. Gets out of the box with intent and can turn on the next gear when rounding the bases, looking for an extra base hit. In the field, he shows solid defensive actions and range with a strong arm across the diamond. |
