Florida Summer Coverage- Palm Beach Standouts

Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

With the summer being kicked off with the PBR Florida Limited Series, we have had an early opportunity to get a good look at a lot of players. On this weekend, players from all over the state converged on south Florida. Today we take a look at some notes on 22 players who stood out over the course of our coverage.

Ethan Campbell, SS, Mosley (2021)
Floria recruit. There is present athleticism, moves well, but will continue to improve as he grows into his body. The actions work in the middle, while he made an error, as he grows into the frame, you can see him working in sync with rhythm. Offensively, there is present bat speed with a short simple swing with plenty of upside.

Jackson Mayo, OF, Bolles (2021)
Uncommitted outfielder, he has a long, athletic frame. The swing has some length, but can see bat speed and power potential with leverage. He is very quick twitch and will have a very high ceiling.

Declan McDermott, C, Viera (2020)
Listed at 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, but looks more like 5-foot-10, 170 pounds. He has continued to fill out and has a very strong lower half. Offensively, he looks very comfortable in the box. Shows a feel for the strike zone and aggressive to balls in the zone. Sinks into lower half and clears backside. Drove home run to left field and has strength throughout. Did not see catch, but has shown solid defensive tools as well.
