The Top Prospect Games has consistently proven to be one of the top events in the state, with 45 commitments from the last two events combined and 26 of those being Division I along with a 7th round MLB Draft pick. This event puts players from the 2018-2021 classes against each other in a pro-style workout followed by a game.
Over the next week we will break down each player by position. Today we look at the outfielders:
Trevor Candelaria OF / RHP / Montverde Academy, FL / 2018Long, lean 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. Wiry, strong frame with a strong arm touching 91 mph from the outfield. Ball stayed low to the ground with good carry. Footwork and first step worked well in the field. Offensively, he had a strong flat swing while staying in the zone for a long time. Would occasionally get disconnected with his arms and hook balls foul. Showed pull side power with potential power to all fields by staying inside the ball. |
Turner Shultz OF / Bishop Kenny, FL / 2018Standing at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds the right handed hitting outfielder has a strong athletic frame with room to grow. Showed good footwork in the outfield as he approached the ball with good accurate throws to each bag. Offensively he demonstrated the ability to use all fields with quick hands to the ball. Although, he is occasionally steep and cuts his swing off when he stays in his legs and keeps the bat in the zone he showed ability to make good contact as he singled up the middle in his game. |
Adam Gregory OF / RHP / Nease, FL / 2018The 6-foot-2, 175-pound outfielder has a long, lean and projectable frame. Defensively, he has natural instincts in the outfield with quality routes and would be an above average corner outfielder. This showed up in the game where he made multiple diving plays from a quality jump and route. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has long levers. This creates some length, but when he stays short to the ball it also creates power. The swing translated to the game where his was one of two players to record multiple hits with a single and a double, both hard hit. There is plenty of room to fill out and with present power and a feel to hit, he projects very well. |
Dawson Fietsam OF / LHP / Trinity Christian Academy, FL / 2019The 5-foot-10, 160-pound outfielder has a stocky and strong frame. He continues to improve across the board every time we see him. He has quality rhythm with a simple swing that keeps him consistently on time. Stays in the lower half well, clearing hips with quality load in the upper half. This creates separation and generates above average bat speed through the zone and keeps him in the zone a long time. He has a fee for the barrel and present gap-to-gap power with more to come. Defensively, he is a solid defensive outfielder. There is some quick twitch and ran a 4.19 home to first time on a leaking ground ball to short. Overall the swing works and there is present athleticism with potential. |
Tyler Green OF / LHP / Yulee, FL / 2019The 5-foot-11, 170-pound OF/LHP showed low, accurate throws from the outfield topping out at 74 mph. Offensively, the left-handed hitter showed a short, simple swing. With a balanced lower half, he created a path that stayed level in the zone, producing gap-to-gap line drives during batting practice. The swing can get rotational, and lead to him cutting the swing off. Would benefit from a bit more rhythmic load and staying linear through the ball. On the mound he featured a short, simple high 3/4 arm action. The fastball ranged from 69-71 mph while also featuring a curveball ranging from 60-61 mph. |
Luke Moorer OF / RHP / Stanton College Prep, FL / 2019Young, athletic 6-foot-3, 195-pounds has a strong physical frame. Showed a strong arm from the outfield touching 84 mph with good footwork approaching the ball. Could work on keeping throws low and on line to target. Offensively he showed quick hands and good bat speed but occasionally worked steep to the ball. Power and contact would jump with staying on plane. On the mound Luke sat 80-83 with a long arm action. Mixed in a few changeups at 76. Velo will jump as he continues to get stronger. |
Parker Smith OF / 1B / Timber Creek, FL / 2018Strong frame. 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Showed a good accurate arm from both the infield and the outfield. Footwork played as he approached the ball from each position with a quick first step in the outfield. Offensively, he showed an extremely aggressive pull-side approach. He generates above average bat speed and creates present pull side power. During the game, he worked counts well in the game and showed an aggressive controlled swing, with some present swing and miss. Already a strong kid but shows more power potential with consistent short swing and minimize the swing and miss. |
Brad Radomski OF / OF / North Marion, FL / 2019Strong, athletic frame standing at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds. At the plate he has a big leg kick and shows the ability to make create hard contact with multiple lines drives during batting practice. Registered an 86 mph exit velocity in the cage. At times he can be out in front and pull his body forward, losing some power from his lower half. As he stays back more and better utilizes his lower half, he will be able to generate more power in his swing and drive the ball. From the outfield he displayed the ability to field the ball out in front with some accuracy on his throws that topped out at 77 mph to the bag. |
