Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 3B/RHP Blake Tipmore

We are just a few months away from the start of the 2021 high school baseball season, and many 2021 seniors remain uncommitted. We want to highlight these uncommitted seniors in an effort to promote these players and find them a home at the next level.

Today, we highlight uncommitted 2021 3B/RHP Blake Tipmore (American Heritage Delray). Tipmore has been a standout at multiple events including the 2020 All-State Games with a fastball up to 88 mph. A physical two-way prospect at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. Blake ranks No. 189 in the PBR Florida Class of 2021 rankings.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-foot-11, 190-pounds. Strong bodied, athletic frame.
Defense: Choppy footwork at times, works left to right towards baseball, some stiffness on release, profiles as 3B, able to get away with things due to above average arm strength.
Arm: RH. INF - 86 mph. Over top arm slot, long/strong arm action.
Hit: RHH. Tall, slightly open setup, short knee lift, barrel tilt, short stride. Extension through swing on contact, strong lower half gets through zone allowing hard contact out front, above average bat speed.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity. Projectable power, up middle approach.
Run: 7.31 runner in the 60. 

Delivery: Tall and drive delivery, powerful gathered balance point, slight fall on finish allowing arm to come through.
Arm Action: RH. Over top arm slot, long to short arm action.
FB: T87, 83-87 mph. Heavy, arm side run. Stays on top of baseball.
CB: 71-76 mph. 11/5 shape, sharp action.
CH: 76-79 mph. Arm side run, fading action.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP, Competes on the mound, pounds zone with all pitches. 
Body: 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. Strong, athletic frame. 
Defense: INF - watches ball to glove, keeps ball in front of body,  projectable at 3B. 
Arm: RH.  INF - 87 mph. OF - 84 mph. Over the top arm slot, long, strong arm actions.
Hit: RHH. Tall, open setup, repeatable fluid/athletic pre-pitch actions, strong hands.  Athletic hand actions through zone, swings with intent, confident/relaxed in batters box. 
Power: 94 mph exit velocity from the tee. Line drive, gap to gap approach, above average bat speed. 
Run: 7.49 runner in the 60.

Positional Profile: 3B/RHP 
Body: 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. Stocky frame, strong lower half.
Defense: Average actions, will stay on the corner.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. High 3/4 slot, high effort, whippy arm.
Hit: RHH. Tall setup, hands create rhythm, short leg kick. Above average bat speed, consistent hard contact.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity from the tee. Ball jumps off the bat
Run: 7.33 runner in the 60. 

Delivery: Simple delivery, high leg kick, drives downhill.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot, max effort.
FB: T88, 85-87 mph. Heavy fastball with life.
CB: 75-77 mph. 11/5 shape, gets on top, tight spin.
CH: 78-80 mph. Fades arm side.

A stocky, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Tipmore was one of the bigger all-around standouts of the day. There is present athleticism with the strength, as defensively he worked under control with quality footwork and sound hands. Has potential to play third or second. Really stood out offensively, where he had the top exit velocity of the day at 95 mph. The swing is simple, compact and level through the zone. Uses the lower half well to stay balanced and drive through with the backside. Present gap-to-gap power and feel to hit with a single and an RBI in the game. On the mound, he was solid as well. The arm is compact and quick, and fastball worked 84-86 mph. Overall, a super utility player who could make an impact in multiple ways at the next level.
