Wesley Chapel Takes Down Nature Coast Tech 9-4

By Justin Burgess

The Wesley Chapel Wildcats rode a solid pitching performance from 2015 RHP Brandon Mcleod who
had 6 IP, 9 K's, and 4 ER's but dominated through five innings. They also used hot bats that were led
by 2015 SS Corey Mumaw who went 3 for 5 with an RBI double, and 2015 INF K.J. Bierly who went
3 for 4 with an RBI double as well.

The Wildcats starting scoring early as Mumaw led off with a single and was driven in by a Bierly
double. After Evan Mirocke reached on an error, Bierly was able to score from third when the Sharks
tried to catch Mirocke stealing second. Nature Coast was able to add a run early as well off the bat of
John Peloro when he drove an RBI double to right center. Wesley Chapel responded in the top of the
second inning when Colton Bierly drew a two-out walk and was driven in by a Mumaw double. After a
scoreless bottom half of the second, K.J. Bierly was able to reach base on an error to start the top of the
third. After a Mirocke single, both runners were driven in by Christian Curbelo who drove a double to
right center. Colton Bierly added a two-RBI double of his own to put the Wildcats up 7-1.

After a scoreless fourth and fifth, Wesley Chapel added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth and a
1-2-3 bottom half of the inning to give themselves a comfortable lead heading into the seventh. The
Sharks showed some heart in the last half inning of the game by adding three off the bats of Brandon
Riera, Cass Cole, and Vito Tambasco but it was too little, too late as Wesley Chapel hung on to defeat
Nature Coast Tech 9-4.
