West Region State Games Tryout: Player Analysis

The West Region State Games Tryout took place Saturday, September 18th at Berkeley Prep in Tampa, FL. The event featured players from the 2022-2026 classes participating in a pro-style workout followed by bullpens in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

Eugene Ahn 1B / 3B / IMG Academy, FL / 20245-foot-8, 180-pound solid athletic build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Begins in a tall athletic stance with a quick controlled load, then uses a short stride. Has average bat speed, short swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with some loud contacts. Gap to gap line drive approach. Solid while in the infield, made throws up to 78 mph; has choppy feet, a clean natural exchange, and sure hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. From a ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a short arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.9 at the event. |
Andreas Alvarez SS / RHP / Osceola , FL / 20245-foot-10, 168-pound athletic build. Above average in the box, Al94ez had an exit velocity of 94 mph. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is above average, shows a short swing plane and high finish.
