Young Talent Rallies Escambia Past Gulf Breeze in Extras
April 11, 2018
Gulf Breeze, FL-- Day one of the Panhandle trip would feature Escambia High School at Gulf Breeze High School. Gulf Breeze is led by 2018 USF recruit Brandon Schrepf, who would help the Dolphins jump out to an early 2-0 lead in first with his RBI single. The Dolphins would add their second run thanks to an RBI single from Trenton Lamar. Carson Reeder started on the mound for Gulf Breeze and would not allow a hit through three innings while striking out four.
Escambia, a young and talented offensive team, would get the offense going in the third thanks to a hard hit ball, ruled an error, by 2020 Jaylen Blackmon. Blackmon would then advance to second on a sacrifice bunt, advance to third on a single from Avery McNair and score on a wild pitch. Twin brother Jojo Blackmon would then tie the game up on a line drive single back up the middle.
Despite both teams threatening with runners in scoring position nearly every inning, the game would move to extra innings tied at 2-2. A stolen base from Jojo Blackmon would give the Gators a runner in scoring position in the eighth. 2020 Frank Peasants would then work to a two-out, two-strike count before driving a double to the left-center field gap to give Escambia the lead and eventual 3-2 win.

Brandon Schrepf, OF, Gulf Breeze (2018)
USF recruit. The lean, athletic outfielder looks the part. He is an average runner, but the gait works and could see the run improving. Offensively he jumps out at you. He has elite bat speed and really clears his back side well, creating a whippy swing that stays in the zone a long time. He has present power with much more to come and could see plus power potential. The swing stays compact and works in rhythm while generating power. A big time hit/power combo to watch.
