Team Outlook

The Eagles were state runner-up in 2022, and look to get back to Truist this spring. They lost a couple key line-up pieces, but will be replacing them with some of the top freshman in the country. All of their top contributing pitchers will be returning. Dimitri Angelakos and Caleb Hughes will lead the Eagles on the mound once again this season. Angelakos is up to 89 on the, and can get it done at the plate as well. Southern Miss commit, Caleb Hughes will look to improve on an outstanding 2022 season. He will also be a upper 80’s arm and strong bat for the Eagles. Columbus State commit Danny Hershberger will also be back to help lead on the mound. Look for him to start creeping into the low 90's with his fastball.

Caleb Hughes 1B / RHP / Etowah, GA / 2024 Rankings  StateRank: 107 / POS: 4

The leader in appearances for 2022, Isaac Griffin will be their key reliever again this season. Griffin fills up the zone, and can get the Eagles out of some james late in games. He can also shut the door as the closer at times. Chipola commit Will Curcio was one of the top bats last season. The RBI machine will have freshman Deion Cole and Miami commit Trevor Condon to potentially drive in this spring. Cole is the top ranked 2026 in the state and ranked top 5 nationally. Georgia commit Matthew Sharman could also be a huge piece on the mound, although the new region Etowah is in will be a tough one for a freshman to earn his first high school innings. The pitching staff should be able to take this 2023 team deep into the playoffs, and if the line up clicks the Eagles could get redemption in the state championship game.
