PBR Georgia Staff
Justin Goetz, Hudson Graham

The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook
Coming off a great 2022 season, the Eagles look to get back into the playoffs and finish the job. They have returning talent that gained a ton of experience in 2022. This team is led by one of the most electric players in the country (9th Overall in our national rankings), ‘24 CF Michael Mullinax. The freak athlete is as close to a guaranteed 5 tool potential as it gets. He did nothing but wow us the entire 2022 season with a combo of plus raw power and speed. Not only is his range in CF of equal quality, but he has a ++ arm that made one of the greatest throws we’ve ever seen in the 2A State Championship last year. Kansas State commit Blake Dean

Blake Dean RHP / North Cobb Christian, GA / 2023

Nicholas Stinson RHP / 1B / North Cobb Christian, GA / 2023

His breaking ball is his go to strike out pitch. Looking forward to seeing Dean in his senior campaign. The Eagles have two explosive gunslingers following Dean in ‘23 LHP Armando Nunez, and ‘23 RHP Juan Vargas. Armando is a ball of muscle and tempo with unreal arm speed and is up to 94 with a hammer SL at times. Juan works in the 89-91 range, with a big low to mid 70’s CB he can throw for strikes. Recent young harris commit Nicholas Stinson will be a great combo with Dean. He has recently been up to 90 and had a great showing at our event this summer. Professional hitters Mattheson Go and Jackson Uggla will lead the rest of the charge on offense. They will also pick up a great addition in Georgia Tech commit Cooper Williams. If the Eagles can piece together their offense around their core guys they will have a chance to compete with Mt. Paran for the region title. They will also need some pitchers to step up behind Dean and Stinson. We look forward to the region rival match up later in the spring.
