PBR Georgia Staff
Hudson Graham

The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook
Coming off an impressive 2022  Coach Tucker has a lot to look forward to in 2023. He returns his top talent on the mound, and will rely on them to get back to the state championship game. The Hurricanes will stack up in a new region this year. Despite losing Blessed Trinity to 6A they will add a talented Calhoun squad to the region. We will be looking forward to that match up in the middle of March. Both teams should be in mid season form, so it will be an electric atmosphere at Calhoun. The Hurricanes will have one of the best 1-2 pitching duos in the state. Kennesaw State commit Caden Carroll and Georgia commit Ryan Johnson. Carroll has one of the best breaking balls in the state, and has a upper 80’s fastball to pair with it. He was a fan favorite at our NPI ProCase this past summer. Johnson was also a standout at LakePoint this summer. Taking down some talented line ups all summer. Coastal Alabama commit Philip Schiltz will be the key reliever for the Hurricanes. His effortless delivery and athletic frame gives Schiltz a high ceiling to go with his upper 80’s fastball he already has in the tank.

Georgia commit, Caleb Daniel will be the big bat in the line for the Canes. Senior Harrison Childers will also be a key piece in the offense. We expect Cartersville to continue to win ball games this season. If they can have a few young players step up in the line up, they will be right back at Truist in a few months time.
