Season Review: Fellowship Christian

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season cancelled, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. We have sent surveys out to coaches around the state and got their input on the first weeks of the season. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight the season and standout players, team by team.

Season Stats: .606 AVG, 4 2B, 2 HR, 15 RBI, 17 R, .667 OBP, 6 SB

Coach’s Notes: Switch Hitter with pop from both sides of the plate, smooth infielder with enough arm to make all the throws, leader on and off the field and absolute student of the game, Mid to Upper 80s fastball with strong breaking ball (74-76 mph).

5/18/19 - 5-foot-11, 178-pound switch-hitting middle infielder, athletic with strength throughout frame. Offensively, balanced setup, toe-tap stride, hands cock on load, remains balanced throughout, . Gap-to gap type hitter, can drive the ball from both sides of the plate with a smooth swing and quick hands, barrel path has uphill tendency, gets into his lower half better from the right-side resulting in more power, 87 exit velocity off a tee. Ran a 7.19 laser-timed 60. Defensively, short, quick arm action from a ¾ slot, accurate on throws. Moves well, fields position freely with soft hands, quick footwork and transfers, 80 across the infield.

Coach’s Notes: 6-foot-3 with 6.5-6.6 speed, elite first step on the bases and defensively, gets to a lot of baseballs that many wouldn’t expect, has the arm to make all the throws, developing power at the plate, currently a gap-to-gap hitter with ability to stretch 2B into a 3B very easily, potential draftee.
10/4/19 - TCU commit. Long, high-waisted 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Athletic, highly projectable frame, one that can easily handle more weight in the future. Calm, relaxed plate approach with rhythm and balance throughout. Tracks pitches well, allows the ball to travel deep. Generates above-average bat speed. Overall, stands in the box with confidence and moxie. Defensively, moves with fluidity; solid carry across the infield.

Coach’s Notes: 6-foot-2 with solid frame, had to be a PO this spring due to non throwing shoulder injury but answered the call very well, worked every day to become an impact arm for us this spring, low 80s fastball with low 70s change up, ability to work out of trouble, before injury shut him down, explosive bat, exit velocity 90+ with great ability to drive gaps

Coach’s Notes: Ultimate utility, played catcher, OF, and IF, good bat, developing power, learning how to become a better hitter not just a swinger, excellent defender, arm strength to make any throw, fluid in the outfield, a solid varsity option behind the dish
9/28/19 - At 5-foot-8, 140-pounds Rickheim has strong actions between the lines. In the batters box Rickheim is balanced and compact and has good projection as an offensive player going forward. He consistently centered the baseball to the pull side and showed good balance in the live game setting.  The young 2023 is also projectable as a outfielder with good actions and arm (84 mph). Rickheim also showed solid actions on the infield dirt during the Deep South and he is an arrow up kind of player in the 2023 class and will be one to watch over the coming years.
