The LakePoint Classic took place this past weekend, June 13th through the 16th. Over 65 teams from four age groups (14U-17U) came to LakePoint Sporting Community in Cartersville, GA to compete. Today, we present to you the 17U Scout Blog. The Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the PBR Scouting Staff during the tournament. Featured in the blog is information unsigned prospects, draft prospects and anything else that is notable. We provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times and more. Simply put, the LakePoint Classic Scout Blog is loaded with information.

BigStix Baseball
Treshaun Prupis, 1B/3B, Aiken HS (SC), 2020
6’5 260 pounds. Strong and large presence at the plate with plus power to the pull side. Back to back impressive weekends for Prupis, he has shown to be an extra base threat every at bat. Controlled but yet aggressive swing.

Ramses Ortega, RHP, Home School (GA), 2020
5-foot-10, 170-pound athletically built right-handed pitcher. Arm works long to a 3.4 slot, repreats well. Lived up in the zone with fastball, 82-85, induced weak contact. Changeup showed late action.

Jack Davis, C/1B, Parkview (GA), 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot-4, 178-pound right-handed hitting catcher, lean frame, plenty of room for filling out. Stood out offensively, uses his length well to create leverage, throws the barrel through the zone to generate hard contact.

Matthew Flanagan, LHP, Westside (GA), 2020
6-foot-6 170 pounds. Long, lanky frame and uses it to his advantage. Saw his FB get up to 83, although it plays up with 8ft of extension. Deceptive CH showing arm side run. Much more room left to mature into his figure making him a very projectable LHP in the 2020 class.

Owen Powell, 1B/RHP, Westside (GA), 2020
6-foot-3 210 pounds. Strong build with a plus tool in the ability to hit for power. Throws the knob and lets the barrel follow. Really quick hands allowing him to turn on the inside pitch, including a single that came off the bat at 96 mph this weekend.

Samuel Roebuck, RHP, Greenbrier (GA), 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 162-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build with strength in lower half. Short arm action with a quick draw to a ¾ slot. Uses lower half well in drop and drive delivery, keeps momentum on-line, lands square. Fastball played up to 85 mph, mostly 81-84, featured armside run. Breaking ball had sweeping action to it at 64-66. Also mixed in a changeup at 70 mph.

Trevor Creagan, RHP, Lakeside (GA), 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 215-pound big, strong frame, high waist, room for filling out. On the mound, uses a long arm action, gets extension down the mound. Fastball touched 82 mph, ranged 79-83, gets plus extension on the pitch (6-feet, 10 inches).
Duluth Noles
Kade Snell, LHP, Wicksburg (AL), 2020
6-foot-0 220 pounds. An Auburn recruit, Snell dominated on the mound this weekend going seven scoreless innings. FB was 86-87 from start to finish. That was paired with a SL that showed sharp, 2/7 shape to it at 73mph. Snell had a soft turn of the backside while working out of a ¾ slot, getting more out of the bottom half as the game progressed.

Tanner Bastings, RHP, Paulding County (GA), 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 215-pound right-handed, big, strong frame. Works from a more unorthodox lower ¾ slot with a quick pace. Fastball sat 84-86, changeup came in at 75.

Spencer Wilkins, RHP, Strong Rock Chrisitan (GA), 2021
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, athletically built with developing strength throughout. Really gets into his legs with drop and drive delivery. Slow draw out of the glove, long on back-side, accelerates quickly through release, high ¾ slot. Big presence on the mound, induced frequent weak contact and pounded both sides of the plate.

Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 145-pound switch-hitting shortstop, good all around athlete, lean build. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, hands load back, keeps front-side high. Takes a line drive approach at the plate, good barrel control, finds holes in the defense and looks to put it there. Defensively, fields shortstop aggressively, arm works athletically. A spark plug for the Indiana Astros.

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitter average build with strength in lower half. Arm works short, with a stab on the back-side, to an over-the-top slot, hides the ball well. Tall and fall delivery, strides towards the third base side of the rubber, lands closed, finishes upright. Fastball sat 81-84, some life at-times. Curveball at 71-73.

Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 198-pound right-handed pitcher, projectable build, long frame, room for filling out. Used a long arm action and a high ¾ slot, repeated well. Tossed a no-hitter early on in the LakePoint Classic, showed command of three pitches. Fastball touched 80, sinking and cut action. Curveball had late break and good depth, added in a changeup as well.

Joseph Roden, RHP, Locust Grove (GA), 2019
6-foot-0 185 pounds. The Georgia Southwestern commit showed a good FB/SL mix. Heavy FB that was 83-84, T85 (2000-2200rpm) and decent arm side run. SL was consistently 74mph and had a spin rate of 2150rpm. Spotted up the outside corner with both pitches consistently.
Ian Donahue, RHP, American School in Japan, 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 155-pound athletic right-handed pitcher, lean frame. Deceptive delivery, messes with timing by adding a shimmy, great balance throughout. Arm works loosely. Fastball sat 84-87 (2400 rpm) in first relief appearance at LakePoint Classic. Offspeed is still a work in progress.
Rawlings SE National
Bryceton Payne, LHP/OF, Greater Atlanta Christian (GA), 2020
6-foot-0 170 pounds; proved to be a solid left-handed pitching prospect out of the 2020 class. FB was consistently 82-84mph and got as high as 86 (2222rpm). Tight SL with 2/7 shape; 73mph and 1900rpm. Pounds the strike zone with both pitches. Gets a lot out of his lower half, starting with a high leg kick and strong drive from the back leg.

Uncommitted. 6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, lean athlete. Offensively, swings the bat with athleticism, good barrel control, line drive type approach, puts the ball in play and puts pressure on the defense. Defensively, played a solid shortstop, arm works loosely from multiple slots.
Adrien Dumas, MIF, Lyons (IL), 2020
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 158-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder, lean athlete. A line drive type hitter at the plate, put the ball in play consistently, flashed the ability to drive the ball at-times. Aggressive runner on the basepaths, makes the defense make plays.

Conner Cummiskey, RHP, Heritage (CO), 2020
Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, lean, athletic build. On the mound, works with a smooth delivery, tall and fall delivery, keeps everything working on-line, low effort throughout. Arm works long and loose to a high ¾ slot, repeats. Fastball sat 86-87 with some armside run, early in the game. Dropped in an 11/5 curveball at 73-74.

Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher, strong, athletic build, some quick twitch, room continued development. Arm works long, showing on the back-side, quick arm speed gets to a ¾ slot with ease. Fastball sat 82-85 with late life, swing and miss type movement to it. Relief almost entirely on fastball to get outs.
