2014 Player Spotlight: Alec Olund, MIF/3B, Lake Central HS

Alec Olund is a 6-foot-1, 160 pound athletic infielder from the defending 4A State Champion Lake Central HS.  He is currently ranked the No. 13 prospect in the 2014 class for the state of Indiana.  In the field he shows good foot work and a strong accurate arm across the diamond.  He shows advanced actions with good range.  At the PBR Indiana Preseason All State Showcase this past February Olund ran a 7.15 sixty.  At the plate he uses a slightly open stance and possesses good balance throughout his swing.  Olund’s hands work well, and displays above average power.

Olund hit around .360 this past spring. Olund battled an arm injury that is fully healed now. Expect Olund to compete for the shortstop job at Lake Central. One thing for sure is Olund will not leave the lineup, as one of the top hitters in the 2014 class. During the summer, Olund will play for the Indiana Bulls.
