As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Delphi Oracles and Head Coach Kerry Yoder head into the 2014 season as defending sectional champions.  Yoder's squad returns five positional starters and three arms with high expectations this spring.  Team leader Kolby Myer, a 5-foot-9, 155 pound senior 2B, returns after hitting .395 with an OBP of .537 last year.  The Oracles will be led on the mound by senior LHP and Indiana Tech commit, Jason Sterrett.  The 6-foot, 180 pound lefty posted a 2.09 ERA in 2013 while compiling 119 K's in 57 IP.  Returning as a starter in the OF is Junior Mason Lane who will be expected to contribute offensively this season.  Junior Josh Gilliam will fulfill the catching duties once again and will also be expected to contribute at the plate. Junior Ostin Clark, a corner infielder, will be a big producer at the plate.  Last season the 6-foot-1, 215 pound Clark hit .344 with 9 HR and 44 RBI. Junior SS/RHP Brent Hawn is a talented player who will be expected to carry more innings on the mound in 2014 as opposed to his closer role last season.  The 5-foot-11, 165 pound Hawn hit .375 as a sophomore and pitched in 28.2 innings where he struck out 33 and posted an ERA of 0.24.
