As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Alexandria Tigers and Head Coach Jeff Closser head in to the 2014 season with high aspirations after winning a sectional title last year. The Tigers ended their 2013 season with a 4-3 regional loss to No. 3 Delphi. Returning for the Tigers is Ohio State commit Owen young, ranked No. 23 in Indiana's class of 2015 rankings. The 6-foot-4, 190 pound Junior hit .406 last year with 21 RBI and 11 2B while receiving 2nd Team All State Honors. On the mound the Tigers are led by RHP Blaize Kelly, another 2nd Team All State selection.  Kelly went 8-1 last year as sophomore with a 0.91 ERA and 79 K's.  Junior Jessie Gossett will contribute offensively after hitting .337 in the lead off spot and swiping 15 bags.  The 2013 team leader defensively returns in catcher Braden Warren.  The 6-foot-2, 170 pound Junior posted a .973 Field% while throwing out 12 of 23 base stealers.  Senior SS Drew Johnson and sophomore Braxton Moore will also be expected to contribute this spring.  Johnson, a 5-foot-8, 160 pound SS hit second in the order last season. Moore, a 6-foot, 155 pound LHP threw 10 innings as a freshman with a 1-0 record and 1.40 ERA.  Moore will be counted on in the pitching rotation this spring and should also see some time at 1B.
