2014 Underclass Spotlight: Alec Olund, Lake Central HS



Alec Olund

PBR: What are your expectations for the recruiting process? 

Olund: I just want to be seen and heard of and would like to be signed prior to my senior season.

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?  

Olund:  Division I 

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?  

Olund:  Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Purdue because they all have some sort of Meteorology program and I feel I can play at those schools. 

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement? 

Olund: Opposite field hitting 

PBR: What are your personal goals for the upcoming 2012 season? 

Olund: 1st team all-conference (Duneland Athletic) 

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the upcoming 2012 season? 

Olund: 4A State Championship because we have the team to do it 

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer? 

Olund: Indiana Bulls 16U 

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)? 

Olund: My first Varsity game as a freshman, I went 2-3 with a double and a triple and had 3 RBI's.

PBR: What were your stats for your 2011 HS season?  Summer Season? 

Olund:  2011 HS Season (freshman year) - started all 27 games for LC JV team that finished 25-2. Led team with 52 hits and .593 average. In 5 varsity games went 3 for 7 and appeared in all 3 post-season games. Summer team playing for Cangelosi Baseball - hit .350 (35 hits and 15 for extra bases)

PBR: What is the toughest pitcher/hitter you faced in 2011 from the state of Indiana?  

Olund:  Jordan Minch of Highland HS in the Sectional Championship 

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down? 

Olund:  Yes, Meteorology / Atmospheric Sciences
