OUTLOOK
Head Coach Mike Larrabee and the Yorktown Tigers got hot at the end of the 2014 season where they won a Sectional championship and advanced to the Regional championship game before losing to FW Bishop Dwenger 11-7. The Tigers return eight position starters and seven arms this spring, and are extremely talented at several positions on the field. The ace of the Tigers pitching staff is senior RHP Jacob Preston, a Purdue recruit. Preston went 6-1 on the mound as a Junior with a 1.25 ERA and 73 Ks in 56 IP. Yorktown is led defensively by senior SS Clay Dungan, an Indiana State recruit. Dungan finished his Junior campaign hitting .380 with 29 Runs, 25 RBI, 10 2B, 3 3B and 2 HR. Fulfilling the catching duties is senior Nathan Phillips who hit .357 with 25 RBI, 8 2B, 1 3B and 3 HR in 2014. The Tigers also return senior INF Blake Upchurch (.316 BA, 7 2B), Junior INF/RHP Jake Clawson (.280 BA, 44 K in 40 IP) and sophomore Cole Barr (.286 BA, 7 2B, 8 SB). Yorktown possesses enough talent and depth on the field to not only win the Hoosier Heritage crown, but make another deep post-season run.
