2022 Future Games: Team Indiana Preview - Pitchers
July 25, 2022
The premier scouting event of the summer, the Futures Games, is set to take place from July 27 through July 30th at LakePoint in Emerson, GA. The Futures Games will feature some of the top uncommitted talent from all over the country, specifically from the class of 2024 with a select group of 2025 prospects.
Team Indiana is always known for having plenty of high-end pitchers, and this year is no different. All twelve arms on Team Indiana’s roster have been up to at least 87 mph, with four of them eclipsing the 90 mph mark.
Pitchers
The top ranked uncommitted arm in Indiana’s 2024 class, LHP Caden McCoy (Bloomington North HS) headlines Team Indiana’s arsenal of talented, uncommitted arms. McCoy has a big, strong frame at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds and features a clean arm with plenty of strength. His fastball has good ride and heavy arm side run, topping at 89 mph, and he has good feel for his changeup and breaking ball. 2024 RHP Gavin Kuzniewski (Fishers HS) possesses plus arm speed and efficient movements down the mound. The 5-foot-11 righty features a legitimate three-pitch mix for strikes, including a fastball up to 91 mph. 2024 RHP Caiden White (Jeffersonville HS) will be attending his second Futures Games. The 6-foot RHP ran his fastball up to 89 mph down LakePoint last year.
Team Indiana has a solid group of potential power arms attending this year’s Futures Games. One of those arms is 2024 RHP Joe Trenerry (Penn HS). Trenerry’s frame fits the mold at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds and his fastball already reaches into the low 90s. 2024 RHP Nick Heitman (Mt. Vernon HS) is a two-way prospect for Team Indiana with plenty of upside on the mound. Heitman has a loose, quick arm with a fastball touching 90 mph and an athletic, 6-foot-3, 180lb frame that suggests more velo is on the way. 2024 RHP Brendin Oliver (Mooresville HS) is a projectable, 6-foot-3, 180 pound righty with plenty of upside. Oliver’s fastball has been up to 89 mph and he also possesses a mid-70’s slider with 2500+ spin metrics.
Team Indiana’s roster features a pair of top 10 ranked 2025 arms in RHP Joe Glander (Noblesville HS) and RHP/OF Logan Smolar (Andrean HS). Glander has seen his stock rise this summer, showcasing a fastball that we've seen up to 89 mph. The 6-foot-2, 160 pounder has a long, projectable frame with a clean arm swing and an advanced changeup for a 2025. Smolar was one of the top prospects at Indiana’s Underclass Preseason All-State in March, where he showed an advanced fastball that was up to 91 mph.
2024 RHP Kade Langhorst (Indiana University HS) is a 6-foot-1 righty that has performed well on the national level this summer. Langhorst has advanced pitchability, showing one of the best changeups in Indiana’s 2024 class along with a fastball up to 88 mph. 2024 RHP Chase Wagner (Zionsville HS) has continued to tick up in velocity this summer, topping out at 88 mph at the Grand Park Summer Championships. Wagner has efficient movement patterns on the mound and possesses one of the best breaking balls in Indiana’s 2024 class, a sharp, 76-77 mph swing-and-miss slider. 2024 RHP Simon Wilkinson (Zionsville) possesses quick arm speed and a fastball up to 87 mph. Wilkinson is an athletic, 6-foot-1, 170 pounder with a sharp, late breaking slider at 77-79 mph. 2024 RHP Adam Buczkowski (Carmel HS) is an intriguing arm that has been up to 88 mph on the mound. Buczkowski attacks hitters from multiple arm slots, featuring a three-pitch mix from a more over-the-top slot where his fastball reaches 88 mph and a sidearm slot where his fastball is up to 85 mph with heavy arm-side run.
