Coop's Scoop: Standouts from the Three Indiana Tournaments this Summer

Cooper Trinkle
Indiana Scout

INDIANA OPEN STANDOUTS
June 9-June 12 | Kokomo, IN

Ben Orrill, RHP/OF/3B, Madison Consolidated HS, 2023
Orrill is a physical, 6-foot-2, 205 pound uncommitted two-way prospect that had a massive weekend at Indiana Open. Orrill threw a CG shutout on Day 3, allowing just 2 Hs and striking out 12. He showed a crossfire type delivery with compact, quick arm action and tons of feel for his slurvey breaking ball at 69-72 mph. Orrill sat 83-85 mph on his FB w/ solid command. Orrill’s offensive numbers were just as impressive, going 9 for 15 on the weekend with 3 2B’s and a 3B. He uses a leg kick and has efficient movements in the lower half. He has loose hands and rests the bat just above the back shoulder at launch. Uphill path with strength in the swing.

GRAND PARK SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS
June 23-June 26 | Westfield, IN

Jayce Lee, OF, South Bend St Joseph HS, 2024
Lee is a long, lanky 6-foot-3, 175lb OF that has raised his stock tremendously this spring/summer. He produces easy bat speed and has a tight turn to the baseball, producing multiple exit velocities over 95 mph on the weekend. Clean, upward path that projects to hit for power. Lee has also improved his athleticism in the past year, running a 6.88 60 at an event earlier this summer to go along with his advanced arm strength (93 from the OF). Lee is an uncommitted 2024 with a very high ceiling and plenty of room to continue to add strength and size.

INDIANAN SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS
June 30-July 3 | Kokomo, IN

Eli Bridenthal, RHP, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) HS, 2023
The Xavier commit dominated a quality lineup on his way to earning the CG win. Bridenthal struck out 16 in his 7 innings of work, allowing just 2 hits and 1 ER. A large part of his success was due to his sharp, S/M SL at 75-78 that he threw at will and was virtually unhittable in this outing. His FB sat 87-89 mph w/ slight ASR. The athletic, 6-foot-3, 185 pounder also showed a ton of confidence in his sinking CH @ 79-80 mph, even throwing it R/R.
