Devin Mann Talks About Committing to Louisville

By Phil Wade
Director, PBR Indiana

Devin MannColumbus North's Devin Mann becomes the first player from Team Indiana at this year's Midwest Future Games to officially commit.  The seventh ranked Mann officially committed to the University of Louisville and Head Coach Dan McDonnell earlier today.

Mann quickly established himself as a high end prospect throughout this past summer.  The 6-foot-2, 195 pound shortstop is athletically built and can flat out hit.  He has an advanced approach at the plate with exceptional plate coverage, and consistently barrels up the baseball.

Mann had a very productive outing at the plate during the Midwest Future Games last August.  He went 2-2  with a double to center field in his first game against Wisconsin, and also smoked a 2-run double to the left field wall against Kentucky in the third game.

Below Mann discusses his commitment to Louisville:

PBR: Why did you choose Louisville and were there any other schools you were considering?

Mann: I was considering Kentucky and Western Kentucky, those were the main two.  But Louisville’s facilities were awesome I like the coaching staff.

PBR: What was the experience like for you at the Midwest Future Games this August?

Mann: The Midwest Future Games were amazing!  They had a great set up and everything was great.  The guys were awesome!

PBR: Where did Louisville first see you compete and when did you take your first visit?

Mann: They first saw me in Georgia.  I took my first visit about 4 weeks ago.

PBR: Overall, how has PBR impacted your recruiting process?

Mann: PBR has definitely helped me out a ton! They have done a lot for me in my recruitment process.

PBR: You play for the Indiana Bulls in the summer, talk about your experience playing for them.

Mann: The Bulls have also played a huge part in my decision. They have done so much for me, and opened so many doors for me.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you’ve faced in Indiana?

Mann: The toughest pitcher I have faced in Indiana would be Jarrett Montgomery, he's a stud!

PBR: Now that you’ve committed, do you feel a weight has been lifted off your shoulders going into next season?

Mann: Yes, a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

PBR: What are your goals personally and as a team this High School season?

Mann: We definitely are building off of what we had last year. We were a young team with a lot of new players. We also have a new coach, Ben McDaniel, who is helping all of us tremendously and holding us accountable.  We are all very pumped and want a sectional title. We feel like we have the talent and should get nothing less than that!
