Futures Games Player Highlights

Highlights from Team Indiana at the Midwest Futures Games

On the mound Team Indiana had several arms standout. The leader of the group was probably the first or second best pitcher in the whole event. Jonah Patten (Norwell HS) reassured us as to why he is the number one kid the 2014 class. Jonah was an effortless 88-91 touching 92 three times. His slider was 80-82. He threw four innings and two of them were lights out. Every division one school left with Jonah being one of their top recruits.

The second arm for Team Indiana was a transplant from Illinois. Brian Hobbie. Hobbie was a 6-foot-4 200 pound right handed pitcher. Hobbie was anywhere from 84-88. Hobbie showed a good hard breaking ball.

The Third arm from Indiana was Max Gray (Lawrence North HS). Gray is an undersized right handed pitcher. Gray’s arm is not undersized however. He sat 85-86 and showed a filthy 69-70 MPH breaking ball.

Offensively, Team Indiana’s positional players dominated. Judah Zickafoose (Westview HS) stole the show in BP. Zickafoose displayed why he is going to garner a lot of attention from division one schools and MLB scouts alike. Zickafoose hit the most impressive ball in batting practice that did not leave the field.

Drue Tranquill (FW Carroll HS) was another exciting outfielder during the showcase session. Drue was one of the few guys to run under an 8 on his home to second time. Drue demonstrated opposite field power, a big physical kid, that runs and throws the baseball really well from the outfield.

Macy Holdsworth (Greensburg HS) was the kid that came in with the least known about him, but left with more people recruiting him. He has a knack for barreling up the baseball. His game speed is faster than his foot speed. He is a middle infielder that should continue to draw lots of attention.

Those were six of the standouts for Team Indiana we will profile everyone tomorrow for Team Indiana or as the players called themselves Team Indy Trees.
