Indiana Picks Up Commitment From 2015 Paul Milto

By Phil Wade

Executive Director, PBR Indiana

Paul MiltoIndiana University and Head Coach Chris Lemonis picked up another commitment from the state of Indiana in 2015 RHP/1B Paul Milto of Roncalli High School.

The 25th ranked player in Indiana's 2015 class, Milto established himself as a potential two-way player in college this summer.  The 6-foot-3, 230 pound Milto is a strong, athletic first baseman that can hit for power, and this summer showcased his ability to pitch with a fastball that sits in the upper 80's, reaching the low 90's.

At the Top Prospect Games in June he sat 88-90 with a heavy fastball while mixing in a low 80's slider with tight spin and late action.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose I.U.?

Milto: I chose IU because it was a perfect fit. Close to home, great academics, unbelievable facilities and outstanding coaching staff.

PBR: Where did the new coaching staff first see you compete?

Milto: The coaching staff first saw me compete in the WWBA down in Atlanta.

PBR: Recently you've been getting a lot of attention on the mound as well as 1B, were you recruited as a pitcher or both?

Milto: I was recruited as a dual player.

PBR: When did you take your first official visit to Bloomington?

Milto: I took my first official visit Tuesday, September 2.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Milto: I was also considering Belmont, Dayton, and Miami of Ohio.

PBR: You play for the Pony Express in the summer, talk about your experience playing with them.

Milto: I loved playing for Pony. Jon Richardson helped a lot with recruiting and answered every question I had. I always had great coaches and players around me too.

PBR: You've attended multiple PBR events throughout your HS career, how has PBR helped you with the recruiting process?

Milto: PBR has provided video and stats that are crucial to recruiting. Coaches often ask for a recruiting website link and PBR was perfect for that.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Milto: My family and coaches. They provide the most support and encouragement to keep me going.

PBR: What are you goals heading into your final year as a HS baseball player both individually and as a team?

Milto: Individually, just be the best I can be and play to my full potential. As a team, state championship, and we have a great chance this year.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter/pitcher you've faced in Indiana?

Milto: The toughest pitcher is a toss up between Jarrett Montgomery and Nolan Watson. I haven't pitched much in school ball, so I'm excited to face new hitters this year.
