PBR talks with recent Huntington University commit Cody Frazier

PBR had a chance to talk with recent Huntington University commit Cody Frazier. Frazier is an outfielder from Huntington North High School and was an All-State selection last year. Here is our conversation with one of the top outfielders in that states…

PBR: What were your stats last season for Huntington and/or your summer team? (Who do you play for in the Summer?)
Cody: I hit .417 for my school with 13 homeruns and 49 RBI and over the summer I hit .443 with 6 homeruns and 24 RBI.

PBR: Why did you choose Huntington University?
Cody: Huntington University seemed right for me because it is a really good academic school and I love the environment and the coaching staff.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Cody: The other schools I was considering was Vincennes and Danville

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Cody: The coaching staff at Huntington expect me to come in and perform right away. My freshman year they think I will be starting left field and from my sophomore year on they expect me to play center. Nothing will be handed to me though, I have to earn every second of playing time I receive.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Huntington University?
Cody: I believe my biggest strength in baseball are the intangibles; the things coaches can't really teach you. The fire to win and to be willing to out work any player on any given day I think sets me apart.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Cody: My dad, Bill Frazier, has had the biggest impact on my baseball career. If I ever feel as though something is wrong with my mechanics or anything like that he knows my skills better than anyone and he has always supported me no matter what happens.

PBR: What was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Cody: Most exciting experience during the summer was definitely playing down in Georgia and going head to head with the best the nation had to offer, and performing well. My whole team did really well.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Indiana?
Cody: The toughest pitcher... Wow that's tough. It would either be Trey Ball of New Castle or Nolan Sandburn my sophomore year. Both guys brought straight heat but Nolan had better command of his off-speed.

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Cody: My goals will be to repeat as an All-State outfielder and to contend for Mr. Baseball. My team at Huntington North has the mentality that no one can beat us when we are on our game so our goal is to win it all this year. Anything less will be considered a failure.
