Q&A with Missouri Commit Jake Franklin

Jake FranklinJake Franklin, a 6-foot, 175 pound middle infielder from Roncalli High School, recently committed to Missouri and Head Coach Tim Jamieson.  The Team Indiana Future Games player possesses a strong bat from the left side of the plate, consistently driving the gaps with occasional home run power.  At the Future Games positional player workout this summer he recorded a 95 mph exit velo.  

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Missouri? 

Franklin: I chose the University of Missouri because I felt a strong connection with the coaching staff and it also offered me what I was looking for academically.

PBR: When did Missouri first see you compete?

Franklin: Missouri first saw me compete in Julyat the WWBA in Georgia and they also came to watch me play for Team Indiana in this year's Furture Games at Grand Park.

PBR: When did you take your first visit to Missouri? 

Franklin: I took my first visit to Mizzou the weekend of September 6th.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus? 

Franklin: The coaches expect me to compete and work hard for a starting position when I get on campus.

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Franklin: Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Butler.

PBR: You played for Team Indiana at this year's Future Games, talk about your experience playing in that event.

Franklin: This event had me compete with some of the top players not only in Indiana, but throughout the whole Midwest. It also helped me as a player to strive to become the best player on and off the field.

PBR: You play for the Outlaws in the summer, how has playing for them benefited you as a baseball player?

Franklin: Last summer was my first year playing on the Outlaws and it helped me compete with and against top level competition. The organazation also helped me with my recruiting process to play at the next level.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Franklin: My dad has had the biggest impact on me because he has been my coach since I was little and has really helped me fine tune my game. He has put me in a great high school to showoff my talent with a great group of guys.

PBR: What are your goals both personally and as a team at Roncalli this spring?

Franklin: My goal personally is to be 1st team All Marion County. Our team goal at Roncalli High School is to win a State Championship.

PBR: What is your most memorable moment as a baseball player to date?

Franklin: My most memorable moment is playing for a team out of Chicago when I was 12 and going to Cooperstown, New York.
