Scouting Report

10/29/17- Committed to Ohio State.

4/10-11/17Physical 6-foot-3, 205 pound two-way athlete was the designated hitter for Kokomo with plans for him to start on the mound the following day.  Tall, athletic setup with good box presence.  Aggressive hitter.  Hands load back, slight leg kick used as a timing trigger.  Barrel stays in the zone.  Ball jumped off bat gap-to-gap during batting practice with a controlled barrel. On Tuesday night Root roped an RBI single over shortstop's reach off a 78mph plus slider.  Projectable frame with the ability to hit and be a consistent upper 80's-low 90's arm.

10/16/16- The physical 6-foot-3, 200 pound right handed pitcher is another one of the few participants from the 2018 class. He has a strong frame and good lower half. The arm works free and easy from a 3/4 slot with some late life on the fastball working 89-90 mph topping out at 91 mph. The breaking ball  has a hard sweeping action at 73-74 mph and a changeup at 78-79 mph. There is a lot of upside and an easy arm action that will make him one of the top arms in 2018.

10/07/16-The 6-foot-3, 200 pound RHP/3B is a big and physical with a strong lower half. On the mound he has an up-tempo pace with with a loose and easy arm action from a ¾ slot. His fastball worked from 86-88 mph with a sweeping CB at 74 mph. Offensively he shows some above average bat speed and a strong lower half. There is a lot of potential, especially on the mound with an easy arm action and frame to hold big time velocity.
