Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Joe Ault IF/RHP, Homestead HS

Joe AultToday's Unsigned Senior Spotlight is on Joe Ault out of Homestead HS. Ault was a participant at this year's Top Prospect Games at Indiana University.

The No. 58 ranked prospect in Indiana's 2014 class possesses a projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 180 pounds. He runs a 7.13 60 and is 76 mph across the diamond with a short arm action.  In the field he shows some athleticism in his actions with good range.  He fields the ball well with a solid glove, and above average defensive actions.

At the plate his swing plane is uphill and show the ability to pull the ball well.  He starts with a wide base and short stride.  His hands work and possesses some present bat speed (83 mph exit velo).

On the mound, the RHP sits 82-86 with his fastball with a quick arm action that is short on the back side. Continues to improve each time we see him, as he's lost a lot of the stiffness in actions and become more athletic.  Breaking ball shows an 11/5 shape at 67-69 mph, and got a lot of swing and misses at the Top Prospect Games.  Ault is one of the bigger sleepers in Indiana's 2014 class still unsigned.
