OVERLAND PARK, KS – The No. 1-ranked prospect in the Prep Baseball Overall Rankings for the Class of 2016, RHP Riley Pint (St. Thomas Aquinas), has announced his verbal commitment to Louisiana State, a member of the Southeastern Conference.

Pint came on the scene in the spring of 2013 as a freshman pitching varsity for Aquinas in the state's top baseball conference, the Eastern Kansas League. EKL coaches took note of the young prospect's talent and named him to the All-EKL team, an honor normally reserved for upperclassmen.

Last September, Prep Baseball Report national high school writer Nathan Rode wrote a feature on the emerging phenom as he entered his sophomore year.

This past spring the young right-hander took off, rolling through the ultra-competitive EKL and 5A state playoffs finishing with a perfect 8-0 record, collecting KABC 5A First Team All-State honors and a state championship ring in the process.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound sophomore righty stole the show at the 5A state tournament in Manhattan as he flashed electric stuff, including a fastball up to 95 mph during the Saints first round match-up against Shawnee Heights.

He continued to progress throughout the summer months as the cornerstone of a talented Mac-N-Seitz Foster 17U team, flashing mid-90’s fastballs, command of a low-to-mid 80’s breaking ball and feel for a sinking change-up – all with an easy arm and athletic delivery.

This spring Pint will team up with RHP Garrett Hutson (Oklahoma State commit) and junior LHP Blake Lillis (Arkansas commit) giving the Saints one of the top high school pitching staffs in the nation.

Nearly every major college baseball program was either in the picture or wanting to be in the picture from a recruiting standpoint with Pint.  When it was all said and done Pint chose the LSU Tigers.
