Game of the Week Analysis - St. Paul's vs. Catholic BR
February 23, 2021
Opening day has come and gone for high school baseball in Louisiana and our Game of the Week did not disappoint. St. Paul's traveled to Catholic BR on Monday night, 02/22/21, and the visiting Wolves came out victorious by a score of 5-4 in 9 innings. Both teams look poised to make deep post-season runs. Below, we take a look at two of the stand out players from each club.
St. Paul's High School
-2023 LHP/OF Kade Anderson (LSU Commit) did it all for St. Paul's on Monday night. The southpaw threw 4 innings in relief, giving up 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, while striking out 10 and walking 0 hitters. Anderson was extremely effective with his FB, locating it away, in, and up in the zone, while topping out at 88 mph, which is a personal best. At the plate, he delivered two big hits for St. Paul's and they'll look for him to continue to do that, especially hitting behind Senior Matthew Russo (Southern Miss Signee), who was pitched around for most of the night.
Catholic BR High School
-2022 OF/LHP CJ Sturiale (Louisiana Tech Commit) was the most impressive hitter at last summer's PBR Future Games and he started off his junior campaign with a bang. Sturiale hit a HR to straight away CF during his first at-bat of the season that got the Bears going in the first inning. In the 8th inning, as the Bears were trying to make a comeback, he singled a hard groundball through the 4 hole, in what would be the only hit that Kade Anderson would give up on the night. We expect for Sturiale to have a big year for the Bears, especially hitting in the two-hole, with Senior 1B Mason Zambo (University of Louisiana Signee) protecting him.
