The 4A West Region I is perennially the top Region across the Old Line State, with top tier talent from top to bottom. After winning a tough matchup over Montgomery in last year's Regional Quarterfinals, the Vikings fell to Walter Johnson in the Semi's, making for what should be an extremely motivated Whitman team in 2023.
Led by their two Senior arms in Liam Bowen (Frostburg State) and Lion Gardiner (Holy Cross), the Viking are rich in pitching depth with the emergence of Juniors Ethan Murley and Jacob Goldman. Two intriguing Sophomore arms to keep eyes on are Sammy Berman and Wells Twining, proving excellent depth on the back end of the rotation/bullpen. Senior two-way Mitchell Hwang (Tufts) also looks to provide key innings this Spring.
The pitching is evidently loaded, however the offense should be special to watch as well, led by Seniors Liam Bowen (Frostburg State), Mitchell Hwang (Tufts), Gibson Hirt and Ben Schlossman. Junior Gideon Schwartz and Sophomore Sammy Berman are two uncommitted names to keep eyes on, as we look for breakout seasons from both.
