30 players from the Old Line State, DC, and Delaware participated in this year's Top Prospect Games II at The United States Naval Academy. Players were put through a pro-style workout and played a game in front of our PBR Maryland staff and various college coaches from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Below are evaluations on the seven catchers at the event.

(Listed Alphabetically)

Nicholas Cicale C / 3B / Broadneck HS, MD / 2025

Body: 5’11’’, 138 pounds. Lean, lanky frame with projectability to continue adding strength as he matures.
Hit: RHH. Open, bent stance with adequate balance in the setup; utilized a deliberate leg hang in order to initiate the hands through a flat path into the hitting zone. Could lift the ball out over the plate with leverage at the point of attack; stayed behind the ball well and let the hands work with tight turns. Hit the ball where it was pitched with a mature approach overall. More power on the way with likeable actions in his current frame (can see 30 pounds of muscle available).
Power: 82 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power with ability to find the pull side gap with regularity.
Arm: RH. C - 71 mph. INF - 71 mph. Short, high ¾ slot from the crouch with a quick release. INF: Utilizes length when he has time with added whip through extension. Mostly sticks with a quick V-slot in and out of the hand.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.15 - 2.25. Looked slightly raw behind the dish, but athleticism stood out. Clean exchange and low posture through catch/throw allowing for directional footwork and a solid range of pop times. Seems very low-pulse with a mature demeanor and will only see measurables get better as he holds additional strength. INF: Showed range to the glove hand side with a quick first step, operated with knowledge of pace and beat the ball to the spot.
Run: 7.78 60-yard time.

Benjamin Davis C / 1B / Reservoir, MD / 2022

Body: 6’2’’, 195 pounds. Strong, projectable frame with a thick lower half holding power.
Hit: LHH. Bent, wide, and slightly open setup as the hands began low at the shoulder with slight bounce for rhythm. Utilized a barrel-tip coupled with a simple leg-lift stride showcasing advanced feel for how to control it. Noticeable maturity in the box and consistently on time flashing a ready to go hit tool for the next level. Everything worked with connection allowing for lift to the pull side for extra bases.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Strong top hand yielding doubles power and more to the RCF gap. Transfers energy well throughout the frame.
Arm: RH. C - 78 mph. Short, powerful high ¾ slot with accuracy.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.00 - 2.08. Adequate receiver from traditional setup; went and got the ball in the catch/throw phase with a soft glove hand working back to the throwing ear for a swift transfer. Slight pause as the ball gets to the right hand, carrying with strength to the target upon release. Featured a large target and athleticism to either side when blocking, deadening the ball over the plate.
Run: 7.67 60-yard time.

Noah Forman C / RHP / Broadneck, MD / 2025

Body: 5’10’’, 140 pounds. Lengthy, proportioned frame with room to hold more strength.
Hit: RHH. Open, slightly bent stance utilizing a traditional hand position to start; worked the bat head back to a stretched position at launch coupled with a lift and replace stride from a wide attack. Featured a controlled, flat barrel path into the hitting zone accompanied by a flurry of line drives during batting practice. Stayed mostly middle of the field in the approach with more of a finesse/feel led round.
Power: 80 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Developing doubles power but could get handsy at times. Will eventually have solid juice to pull-side gap for extra bases.
Arm: RH. C - 68 mph. Short high ¾ slot with no restrictions.
Defense: Pop times ranged 2.20 - 2.34. Replaced the feet, sometimes getting the shoulders set up towards the second base position before exploding into rotation. Good extension out in front with immediate quickness up out of the crouch into the catch/throw phase. Throws showed occasional cut to the glove side. Adequate receiving skills from traditional setup behind the dish.
Run: 7.57 60-yard time.

Matthew Gostomski C / OF / Saint Michaels, MD / 2022

Body: 6’0’’, 175 pounds. Long, athletic frame with good proportions.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, slightly open stance with natural loose appearance in the setup; the hands work calmly back outside the shoulder for stretch coupled with a short toe tap stride to initiate the bat head through a slightly uphill attack. Generated consistent line drive/fly ball contact through the middle/pull side of the field. Stayed within himself flashing ready bat speed through impact, especially evidenced on the inner half.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan.

Defense: Pop times ranged 2.25 - 2.38. Average footwork which replaced well directionally, featuring a repeatable effort during defensive evaluations. Soft glove hand attributes and adequate blocking skills, working around pitches in the dirt off both sides of the plate.
