Alberta Scout Blog - Underclass Watch
With recruiting Season in full swing, we take a look at three 2022 players looking to find a great fit to play their college baseball. We saw all three of these prospects in the late summer and into the fall and there is upside with the tools and have the ability to project in many different facets of the game.

Jack Wheatley SS / RHP / St Francis, AB / 2022Report: With a lean frame at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds, Wheatley has shown already impressive bat speed and power potential with an exit velocity of 89 mph. At shortstop, he has shown to be a very cerebral player with outstanding awareness and possesses an arm that has the ability to make plays deep in the hole. Wheatley has shown exceptional potential off the mound, with a fastball hitting 84 and a very advanced changeup at 75 that has fade and action to it. Overall, you’re getting a very mindful, talented two-way player with a polished skill set at both positions. He will be great asset to a program come Fall of 2022.

Mathieu Morin OF / C / Bellerose Composite, AB / 2022Report: Morin is an impressive athlete across the board and this has created a lot of above average tools for the 2022 Outfielder / catcher. At a lean 5-foot-10, 150-pounds, Morin produces power with a 91 mph exit speed that will no doubt only improve as he gets stronger. Pairing this with his 88 mph arm from the outfield and a 7.01 60 yard dash time, he shows his athleticism will very much be threat at multiple places on the diamond. Watch for Morin to continue to develop over the next two years and make an immediate impact for a school in the future.

Heath Hachkowski RHP / 1B / St. Joesph , AB / 2022Report: A big strong kid at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, Hachkowski’s body shows massive power potential and elite level strength to do damage at the plate. His exit velocity at 92 mph shows he is already discovering this, and presents a power threat to all fields. This potential shows on the mound as well, where Heath offers a heavy fastball topping at 87 mph as well as 2 off speed pitches in his curveball and change-up, that continue too rapidly improve. Hachkowski has shown tools to be a big impact player for the right college program in his future and is if the body continues to improve, he is only going to trend up.
