'Blue-Collar' Farquhar Headed To BG

Trent Farquhar SS / 2B / Lakeland, MI / 2019

WHITE LAKE - The influence of a father can go a long way in preparing a son for the future. Trent Farquhar has found that out, especially when it comes to baseball.

A commitment to Bowling Green has the Lakeland High School senior-to-be staying part of a sport he has shared with his father for most of his life.

“My dad has coached me since I was eight,” Farquhar said of his father Brad, who this past season became the head high school coach at Lakeland. “He taught me how to play the game the right way. He was in the Dodgers’ organization as a strength and conditioning coach and knows a lot about baseball. Whenever I’m in a funk, he takes me to the cages to hit.”

The opportunity to work on his game is there at all times for Farquhar.

“I can have the keys to the baseball field and get on the varsity field whenever I want,” the 5-8 155-pounder said.

That type of player appealed enough for Bowling Green to offer a scholarship to the 94th-ranked 2019 in the state of Michigan.
