BLISSFIELD - As a three-sport standout at Blissfield, Gavin Ganun has seen his share of success in athletics. While the football season just came to an end in the playoffs and basketball season draws near, the sport of baseball remains number one for the 16th-rated junior in Michigan after a commitment to Bowling Green. “They sent me a text on Sept. 1 and we started talking back and forth,” explained Ganun, who was first seen by BG this summer at the Top Prospect Games and then again at the Future Games. “I went on a couple visits and now I’m committed. I liked the campus and what BG had to offer.” Bowling Green relished what they saw in the 6-2 190-pounder, who plays quarterback on the gridiron at Blissfield while usually manning the shortstop position in the spring. “They like my big physical build and the way I swing the bat,” Ganun pointed out. Toledo and Western Michigan were among the final three college choices for Ganun, who also took visits to Central Michigan and Akron. “I felt more comfortable,” Ganun said of BG. “It was just the best fit for me at Bowling Green.” Carrying a 4.16 GPA with “something in the medical field” the plan for a major, Ganun has worked hard to better his game. “I’m more mobile,” Ganun said about where recent improvement has come. “I’ve gotten more flexible and I’m continuing to work on that. I’m also stronger because of football.” |
