Inside the Recruitment: '16 OF Alex Manasa commits to Oakland

PBR: Why did you choose Oakland?

Manasa: I chose Oakland because they have a great coaching staff, an awesome facility and a place where I want to continue my education.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Manasa: Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Wayne State.


PBR: Where did coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Manasa: The coaching staff first saw me at a local tournament. They contacted me a couple weeks later to go on a visit and the relationship has got stronger from there!


PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 program?

Manasa: It feels great! Oakland is a great fit for me to get better and reach my full potential.


PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus? 

Manasa: The coaches expect me to contribute as a left handed hitter in the lineup being able to play all outfield positions.


PBR:  What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Manasa: I wanted to find a school that had a great baseball program along with a place I could get a great education.


PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Manasa: My parents had the biggest impact on me because they have always been there to support me through out my whole baseball career. My summer coach Sean Gallagher has also had a big impact on my improvement as a baseball player and he's helped with the recruiting process.


PBR: What were your stats this spring?
 


Manasa: I had a 398 AVG, 53 hits, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 28 RBI, and 18 stolen bases.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced?

Manasa: This past year, Luke Shilling.
