Jackson Lamb, No. 1 Player in 2013 Class, Commits to Michigan

Jackson Lamb, OF/RHP, Bedford HS, 2013

PBR Michigan recently ranked Jackson Lamb the No. 1 player in his graduating class and now he has committed.  At 6-foot-6, 196-pounds, Lamb is an exceptional athlete that will continue his baseball career at the University of Michigan.

Lamb, for a while, was seen as a future division 1 basketball player.  He even entertained offers from some good schools, some of which included teams from the Mid-American Conference. However only recently did Lamb's focus on baseball start to elevate and his baseball stock increased with it.

Interest from baseball programs was always there but picked up considerably once the word started reaching schools that he would play college baseball.  It certainly didn't hurt that Lamb was named to the state of Michigan's "Dream Team" the past two years as well.  This past season Lamb had eye popping hitting numbers as he compiled a .548 average with three home runs and 28 RBI's was named to the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association 1st Team.

Lamb has a tremendous upside especially as he continues to hone his craft in baseball.  As a legitimate two-way threat at the next level, Lamb will be difficult on opponents both from the plate as well as the mound.  Recently we had Lamb up to 93 mph with good downward tilt.

The question that will linger in baseball minds across the country will be whether or not Lamb will even go to school.  He does have draft potential especially as he focuses on his craft.  Only time will be the determining factor.

Here is what we had to say about Lamb after attending our showcase on June 20:

Jackson drew considerable attention on this day. He is a very gifted athlete that is a legitimate two-way threat at the next level. Lamb was 91-93 MPH from the mound. Possessing a heavy fastball with some arm side run and good tilt at times, Lamb has some of the best upside in his class. From the outfield the arm strength was on full display as he posted the best velocity touching 91 MPH. He patrols the outfield well using long strides and good reactions. From the plate his long levers produce power to all fields and an easy swing. When he completely fills out, he will be fun to watch.Jackson drew considerable attention on this day.
