TRAVERSE CITY - The college baseball dream began early for Wyatt Danilowicz.

“Ever since I first started playing at two-years-old, I watched baseball with my grandpa,” reflected the sophomore at Traverse City West Senior High School. “It’s been a dream of mine since then.”

More specifically, Louisville has been the dream.

“I always liked Louisville,” Danilowicz said. “I liked the state of Kentucky and watching Louisville. I also liked Florida. I had an aunt and uncle that went there.”

When Louisville entered the recruiting process, the 16-year-old knew where his future home would be.

“It came down to Louisville is eight hours away,” explained the top-rated 2022 left-handed pitcher in Michigan. “I didn’t want to go that far away to Florida. That helped me make my decision.”

With the help of Diamonds head coach Billy Peterson, a bond with Louisville took place.

“When I hit 88 on the mound he said to start sending stuff out to bigger schools,”  the 5-11 185-pounder noted. “He said he had a connection with them.”

A camp at Louisvilled in mid-January increased the interest on both ends.

“They liked all of my pitches,” Danilowicz said. “They liked my frame and how I threw. They liked how easy it came out of my hand. They also liked my attitude when I pitched.”

The feeling of admiration was mutual.
