Position: LHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 175 pounds
High School: Howell
Ranking: 2nd in Michigan's 2017 Class

Evaluation: Sam is the state’s top two-way player. In the outfield he moves with grace, while showing a strong throwing arm that would allow him to play corner outfield. Along with a strong throwing arm, Weatherly runs a 6.86 60-yard dash that would allow him to play CF at the next level. Arguably Sam’s best position is on the hill. His long athletic frame along with a smooth effortless delivery makes him an elite pitching prospect. On the mound he’s poetry in motion, throwing from a ¾ arm slot with a 3-pitch mix. His fastball has great run sitting 86-88 mph, paired with a changeup that reminds you of Johan Santana and a sharp breaking curveball.

Outlook: If it wasn’t for Mann, Weatherly would definitely be the top player in the state. A true two-way player, Sam could be a potential draft pick as a position player as well as pitcher.

The ball makes a sound of lightning off of his bat. He crushes balls with ease up the middle and to the pull side. Jesse Heikkinen, LHP

Evaluation: Works at an uptempo pace, challenging hitters. Heikkinen throws with a little effort. The ball explodes out of his hand sitting 84-87 mph with sneaky get up. Features a big breaking 1/7 curveball that produces a ton of swing and misses. His fading changeup has great movement and he has the confidence to throw it at anytime in the count.

Outlook: An athletic LHP that has plenty more in the tank. The big thing on Heikkinen is upside. As he adds strength to his slim frame, he should add mph and could potentially be a low-90s guy.

Evaluation: Standing 6-foot-6 has an intimidating presence on the hill. Justin pitches to contact with a fastball that sits 80-84 mph. Campbell's big 2/8 curveball is his out-pitch, that’s close to unhittable when he’s on.

Outlook: Campbell's physically imposing presence on the mound is just now filling out his big 6-foot-6 frame. The southpaw throws with very little effort with a big time breaking ball. As he continues to fill out his frame, while adding strength and velocity, Campbell could be the state’s top arm.
