Michigan Insider: Underclass Spotlight - Ethan Hoffman, LHP/OF

Name: Ethan Hoffman
Position: LHP/OF
Class: 2018
School: Bishop Foley

Scouting Report: Hoffman has an athletic 6-foot, 180-pound build. He stands open with his knees bent in the batter’s box and with his hands back. He shows good bat speed and some power potential. His exit velocity was 91 mph and he ran the 60-yard dash in 7.69. In the outfield, he shows good rhythm with his feet and stays behind the ball well. His position velocity from the outfield was 83 mph. On the mound, he throws from a high-3/4 arm slot and has a long arm action with quick arm speed. His fastball sat 85-85 mph touching 87 mph with good arm side run. His curveball had sharp 1/7 break on it and sat 71-73 mph. His changeup sat 73-77 mph and had late sink.

PBR: What is your favorite subject in school and future major?
Ethan: My favorite subject is Math, my goal is to major in architecture.

PBR: Do you play another sport?
Ethan: I do year round baseball training.

PBR: Fun fact about yourself (something unique or people would not expect)?
Ethan: One fun fact about myself is that other than pitching I love to play the outfield and I surprise a lot of my friends and other players with the pop I get off my bat.

PBR: What can you bring to a college baseball program?
Ethan: I can bring a college a highly competitive pitcher with high intent to help win games.

PBR: How's your HS season going?
Ethan: My high school season isn't going as well as we want, but we are working hard to get our sticks going. My school’s defense and pitching staff is lock down. We are 10-9-1 and are 7-5-1 in catholic league

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer?
Ethan: I play for the Indiana Prospects (Woolwine) in the summer.
