Michigan Insider: Underclass Spotlight - Gaetano Vallone, OF/LHP
Name: Gaetano Vallone
Position: OF/LHP
Class: 2018
School: Grand Rapids West Catholic
Scouting Report: Vallone has an athletic 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. He has an open stance with high hands and shows good rhythm. He has an uphill plane to his swing and has good bat speed with pull side raw power. His exit velocity was 88 mph and he ran a 4.31 home-to-1st. In the outfield he shows good range while fielding the ball with good rhythm and staying behind the ball well. His position velocity from the outfield was 84 mph.
PBR: What is your favorite subject in school and future major?
Gaetano: My favorite subject in school is social studies I want to go into sports management or physical therapy.
PBR: Do you play another sport?
Gaetano: I play football
PBR: What can you bring to a college baseball program?
Gaetano: I can bring competitiveness, energy, hard work, leadership and success to a college program.
PBR: What are your baseball accolades (Tournament championship, all league, etc...)
Gaetano: 2015 OK Blue all conference, district, and all state honorable mention. 2016 all district. I also earned my baseball varsity letter as a freshman. I have played QB on varsity football since I was sophomore. I have won 3 straight Division 5 state titles for football.
PBR: How's your HS season going?
Gaetano: First pitching outing of the year 16ks in 6 scoreless inning, ERA under 1, Batting average above 400.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer?
Gaetano: I play for the 18u Elite As out of Grand Rapids MI
