PBR Spotlight Game: Bishop Foley vs Riverview

DETROIT – 2014 Division C-D Catholic League Champion Bishop Foley battled Gabriel Richard Riverview attempting to defend their C-D Catholic League Title. Foley would make it a 4-peat as C-D champs with a victory.

Foley’s young ace 2017 Justin Campbell took the mound against a strong Gabriel Richard Riverview offense that advanced to the C-D Championship on a walk off grand slam off the bat of 2016 Josh Blaszczak.

2016 Jake Lipetzky was on the hill for Riverview and was quite impressive early on striking out 4 of the 6 batters he faced in the first two innings.

However the Foley bats woke up in the top of the 3rd.

2018 Jacob Thomas reached on a free pass and advanced to 2nd as 2017 Payton Schuster laid down a sacrifice bunt. 2015 John Carroll commit Cam Horwath walked and 2015 Western Michigan commit Nate Grys crushed a line drive to the right-center gap for a 3-run inside the park home run.

Richard fought back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd.

Blaszczak led off the inning with a free pass and scored on an RBI single to center field by Lipetzky. Lipetzky was later brought in on 2018 Josh Tufts’s RBI.

Foley added their final run in the 4th inning. 2016 Michael Ryan, Thomas, Horwath all reached on walks. Ryan scored on a catcher snap throw down to 1st base that skipped away from the Riverview first baseman.

Campbell threw a complete game with 9 strikeouts for Foley leading them to their 4th straight Catholic League C-D Division title.
