Pre-Season Preview: Walled Lake Northern HS

By Matt Sandles

2013 promises to be a good year for head coach Kevin LaPlante and the Walled Lake Northern Knights. Granted they lost Oakland Grizzly Ted Lilley and captain Cole Lubin, but there is reason to be optimistic for the Knights.

Ace pitcher and Aurora University signee Brett Davis returns to headline a solid core for the Knights. They also have the Williams brothers who will pack a powerful punch in the middle of their order.  Both juniors Brennan, a left-hand hitting first-baseman (6-4, 220-pounds), and third-baseman Corey (6-foot, 255-pounds) provide solid punch in the middle of the batting order.

Senior Brady Schafer, Tiffin signee, will anchor the middle infield for the Knights. Other returning seniors to watch are Jake Ginster, OF, and Hunter Van Maele, 3B. Up and coming players to watch are sophomore Drake Lubin, a young outfielder with potential and infielder Aaron Chretien, a junior, also figures to make an impact on the lineup.

If the Knights can solidify their pitching, they have the offense to make a deep run in the postseason. Look for the Knights to score a lot of runs throughout the year.
