Q&A with Midwest Futures Game Representative: Michael Hendrickson, LHP, Saline HS, 2014

Michael Hendrickson, LHP/OF, Saline HS, 2014

Henrickson is a good looking 2014 prospect.  Standing at 6-foot-2 already he seems like he may have more to grow.  From the mound Henrickson was up to 83 MPH with his fastball and his breaking ball had some late tilt.  He threw that pitch between 68-69 MPH.  He threw his changeup for strikes as well, a pitch that he kept down nicely.  Hendrickson also plays for Saline a perennial state title contender so he is sure to know the game.

PBR: As you enter your junior year in high school, where are you currently in the recruiting process?

Hendrickson: Currently, I am in the very beginning of the recruiting process, but I have talked to a few schools and been acquainted with some coaches.

PBR: What are your expectations for the recruiting process?

Hendrickson: I really don’t know what to expect, but I’m hoping good opportunities arise and I find the right fit.

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?

Hendrickson: I hope to play Division 1 baseball at a solid program.

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

Hendrickson: I’m still very early in the process and am open to a number of schools.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Hendrickson: I think continuing to improve command of all four pitches and adding velocity will be the most beneficial to me.

PBR: How did this past season turn out for you?

Hendrickson: This past season at Saline was great. We won our conference and advanced to the state semifinals where we lost to Hudsonville.

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the 2013 season?

Hendrickson: Some of our goals are to win the SEC again, and to get back to Battle Creek. This time, though, we need to finish.

PBR: What are your personal goals for 2013?

Hendrickson: I hope to be undefeated on the mound and have as many walks as starts while continuing to contribute to the team.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?

Hendrickson: Next summer I plan to play for A. Green.

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from this?

Hendrickson: It was fun playing with a great group of guys and playing great quality baseball all around. It was an awesome environment.

Hendrickson: Pitching I was 6-0 with a 1.85 ERA in 34 IP with 36 Ks

Hendrickson: I hit .438 with 1 HR and only 3 Ks

PBR: What is your GPA? ACT or SAT score? If you have not taken it do you have a planned date?

Hendrickson: My GPA is a 4.0. I have not yet taken the ACT or SAT but will be taking it September 8, 2012.

PBR: Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down?

Hendrickson: I have not decided on a major, but I intend to do something in Health Sciences.
