Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Chad Roskelly, C/3B

Chad Roskelly, C/3B, Dakota, 2013

Roskelly is a bull, both physically and mentally.  We have seen Chad several times this summer and he seems to be making consistent strides.  He has good pop in his bat and is an offensive threat.  His defensive skills have dramtically improved this summer.  He is blocking the ball better and moving behind the plate with more ease.  His pop time was 2.01.  He also registered 81mph across the diamond in the infield as he can play third base in addition to catching.

Where are you currently in the recruiting process?
Roskelly: I have a few schools interested, but there aren’t any at the top of my list yet. I am trying my hardest to get noticed, and doing whatever I have to do in order to.

What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?
Roskelly: My dream has always been to play at the D1 level, but if no colleges are interested by the end of the high school season, I see myself playing at the D2 or JUCO level.

What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?
Roskelly: I am most interested in Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Michigan State, and Grand Valley. These schools not only have a great baseball program but have the field of study I would like to go into.

What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?
Roskelly: I have been told that my defensive skills need the most improvement. Whether it is framing the ball and pop time at catcher, or fielding the ball at 3rd base. I am willing to do everything in my power to improve.

As a player what is your greatest strength?
Roskelly: My greatest strength as a player is hitting. I also always put the team first and am willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better.

What are your high school team goals for the 2013 season?
Roskelly: My high school team goals are to improve myself as a player, and also go out and win a championship.

How did your 2012 high school and summer seasons go?
Roskelly: In 2012 my high school team was about 20 games over .500. We ended up losing in the first round of playoffs to a team we were better than. Our summer team played a very tough schedule, yet competed very well. We went to national tournaments, where we would always win a few games.

What were your stats in 2012?
Roskelly: My 2012 high school season was not one to remember. I had a batting aver of .270 yet was second on the team in RBI’s. I also didn’t play my best in the field. I believe my summer season went very good. I had a batting average of .456 and believe I played very good a catcher. I knew I still had some work to do to play at the next level though.

What is your GPA? ACT score?
Roskelly: 3.5 GPA and 21 ACT score

Have you decided on a major or narrowed it down?
Roskelly: I would like to go into the medical field.  Possibly be a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
